"Lord John Marbury is 437 years old, I'm convinced of it," Josh said, "and it's far better if you never meet him. He'd hit on you. It would be awkward. Except that he can apparently get away with it because he's all, you know, British about it."

He pulled her just a little bit closer. "What was it called?" he asked. "This place of yours?"

Dream had said it had been real, in its own way. And if she could find the courage to say it, maybe she could find it again. "Narnia," Susan said softly. "It was lovely. But I had to leave." She shrugged. "The war, you know."

"Narnia," Josh repeated. "Sounds nice. And you had to leave because of a war in Narnia? Or here?"

"Here. World War II." She widened her eyes at him, then smiled. "I've just realized I can talk about it without sounding insane. Thank god for the vagaries of Fandom. I'm sorry, it's a rather freeing thought." Susan laughed. "And perhaps I *have* met your John Marbury then, although I can't say I remember it. But perhaps he was using another name! You shall have to introduce us, and he can tell me if I've aged or not."

"I have a vampire for a TA," Josh said. "You living through World War II doesn't even hit the top ten on the weirdest things I've heard." He rolled his eyes. "And you'd remember if you'd met Lord Marbury, current Ambassador for Her Majesty the Queen to the United States. He's a complete drunk, for one."

"Ahh. Then no, no complete drunks with British accents posh enough to be an ambassador have crossed my path. A few who could have been undersecretaries, though."

Susan smiled and said, "Angel is your assistant, then? I keep hearing about him, but I've yet to cross his path." She shivered a bit. "And I'm not certain I wish to, at this point. I've heard too much about the other vampires in town; even though I've bene assured he's no threat, I find the idea intimidating."

"Well, I'm certainly not inviting him to visit," Josh said, "so you'll just have to live a long and fulfilling life without knowing him."

He smiled. "Aww, Donna's not so bad. I'm pretty sure half of my Campaigning class went out vampire hunting a few weeks back, but that is so far from my realm of experience that I wouldn't even know where to start a lecture to them."

Susan smothered a giggle at his vehement refutation of Sir John Marbury, then cocked her head as he spoke of Angel. "Donna?" She widened her eyes, mouth twitching. "Just what kind of relationship do you have with your TA, Josh?"

"I know a few of the ones who went out 'hunting' - and they're so self-possessed, I don't quite know what to say to them either. Except that I wish they'd involved adults other than your TA."

"My old assistant's name is Donna," he said. "So I call all of my TA's here Donna. It confuses them, so that amuses me."

Josh nodded. "Involving an adult would be good. You know, one that knows what they're talking about because I'm completely out of my depth on this sort of thing. I didn't know this stuff existed six weeks ago."

All of Susan's knowledge is twenty years and another lifetime in the past, but she still wishes she'd known sooner. "True. Although I believe our Dean was in the military; if this comes up again, I think I shall talk to Zoe, and ask her what is to be done." The song ended, and Susan smiled. "Right, then. Enough attempts at grace for the evening. I think we should leave the floor to those with more youth and less shame."

Josh smiled and let his hands drop. "Thank you for the dance, Susan," he said. "We should definitely spend more time together."
