And of course, if Parker's going to drag someone onto the floor, it would be to a song like this. "Come on, Peter. Relaaaaax." She's grinning. "It's just fun. Lighten up."

"Yeah, along with everything else, I also have the proportionate dancing ability of a spider." Peter explained, "All legs and no clue what to do with any of them."

"Okay, shake it out, first." Parker pulled her shoulders up, let them drop, then relaxed. "Now come on. Right foot, side. Left foot, follow. Don't try to do anything with your hands yet." She grinned. "And sway!"

"Okay. But if I step hard on your feet or something, you can't say your weren't warned," Peter said, trying to follow along. "I've never really been one for dances or dancing really, so there's a terrible lack of experience here."

"We all have to learn sometime. And if you do it now? You won't have to take lessons from some guy named Geraldo." Parker shook her head as Peter tilted back and forth like a Weeble. "Okay, you're dancing like a toddler. But, you're not actually three, so, try to get *some* hip action into it, okay?" She put her hands on his shoulders, and made him stop. "Okay. Follow my feet. Forward. Back. Side. Forward. Back. Side."

"Do you actually know a dance instructor named 'Geraldo'?" Peter said, trying to follow. Despite possessing great speed, strength, and agility, he was definitely a white boy. "This would be much easier if someone was shooting at me."

Parker couldn't help laughing at that. "No, I don't know a Geraldo, but I've met his cousins. Come on. Shoulders! Left, right!" She stepped back, and and did it herself-- shoulder-hip-foot, spin, down. "Come on, just-- loosen it up a little." She grinned. "Do what I do!"

"What? I'm loose! Ish. Kinda. Okay." Peter continued to follow Parker's lead. He was getting more used to it and it wasn't looking as bad as when he started, but rhythm was still a visitor from a distant land.

Parker was still snickering. "You have to start somewhere. Hey, can you twist?" She did the move herself, at half-speed. "C'mon. Basic move. One half goes one way, the other half in the other direction. Not *too* hard."

I don't wanna be no man's woman
I've other work I want to get done
I haven't traveled this far to become
No man's woman
No Man's woman

"I'm sure I can do it, in theory." Peter did something that approximated Parker's move. "I swear, I'm a better slow dancer. But you're not witnessing that, too, tonight."

Giggling, Parker said, "Okay, you really weren't kidding, were you?" She shook her head. "Close your eyes, and sway, guy. I won't let you run into anything, I promise. Just don't bob your head!"

Re: Song: No Man's Woman - Sinead O'Connor

[identity profile] peter--parker.livejournal.com 2006-02-18 05:55 am (UTC)(link)
Peter knew that he couldn't possibly run into anything, but that much was still secret. He didn't want to let anyone know about his trump card, just in case.

"Fine. Eyes closed. No bobbing of the head. Just swaying." This actually improved his dancing dramatically.

"Now you're getting it!" Parker raised her arms in victory, grabbed one of his, and shimmied while he swayed. "It's like the opposite of getting sea-sick-- if you can't see it, you can feel it!"

Parker kind of used Peter as a maypole that she danced around, but hey, they both stayed on their feet.

"Okay, this part I can deal with," Peter said as Parker danced around him. "I like the standing still. I'm happy with it."

"You and Stevie Wonder, Peter." Parker laughed, then grabbed his hands. "Open your eyes. Now push away, pull in. Easy, see?"

"Parker, what are you doing to your similarly-named classmate?" Jack asked.

Parker spun and grinned. "Trying to teach him to dance! I think he has permanent White Boy Syndrome, but he was doing better with his eyes closed!" She shimmied at Jack. "You got here just in time, I was going to ambush the DJ without you!"

"This means I'm free? Thank God! And you," Peter told Jack.

Jack grinned at her. "Which one?" he asked, with an appreciative look at both of them. He turned the grin onto Peter. "Want me to get her away from you?"

"Please. I appreciate it."

Peter turned to Parker. "Don't have too much fun without me. Really."

"Awwww." Parker blew him a kiss. "Next time, you don't escape so easy!" Then she grinned at Jack. "The one in leather, of course!"

Cuz I'm tired of it
And I'm not scared of it
That I'll never trust again
Cuz a man could fake you
