Valentine's Day Dance. The Gym. 8.30 pm

The gym was decorated, the DJs were playing, and the punch was not yet spiked.

Fandom High's Valentine's Day Dance had begun.

Mac was here. He's not sure why he decided to volunteer, but knows he'd felt better if he hadn't worn a suit. He wonders if it's worth trying to stop someone from spiking the punch bowl.

Sam, perhaps a little worse for all the punch, stopped directly in front of Mac. With the heels she'd borrowed from Parker, she was able to look directly in his eyes. "Hi." She grinned slightly goofily at him.

"Hey Carter," Mac said with a grin and trying not to look too closely at the leather pants. "Nice dance so far, huh?"

"Yep." More grinning. A small hair flip. "You're not really a suit guy, but that doesn't mean you don't look good in it."

Mac pulled a little on his shirt collar self-conciously. "Thanks Sam, you look... um... very nice as well."

Mac was trying very hard to not look at the pants now.

"That's sweet, thanks." She picked up the end of Mac's tie and began playing with it, moving a little closer. "Are you having a good time?"

Mac is a little on the uncomfortable side as he tries to avoid eye contact with Sam.

"Uh. Well part of the job you know. Chaperone," Mac said with a little cough. "Um, are you feeling okay, Carter?"

She took a step closer and tilted her head back just a bit to keep eye contact. "Sure. Why wouldn't I be feeling okay?"

"It's just that... um..." Mac swallowed nervously, "You're usually not this... friendly... or close."

Mac might be turning a slight shade of red.

"Well, you're not usually this dressed up." Eyelashes may have fluttered slightly. "It's a night to be unusual. And is my being close a problem for you?"

Sam might have momentarily forgotten she looked seventeen, but her hormones hadn't.

"I think you might have had enough," Mac said gently. "Do you want to go back to your room? I mean... Do you need *help* getting back to your room?"

There may have been some flailing involved there.

"Oh, I'm done drinking for the night," Sam smiled sweetly at him, "but it's not over yet, even if I'm done drinking."

Mac suddenly found himself in a situation that would not be resolved through the use of duct tape.

Well it could, but that would have some dire consequences. Thank God Dean Washburn wasn't around.

Mac gently grasped Carter by the upper arm and tried to lead her away from the gym. "Sam, maybe you should go back to your room before you do something you might regret."

"Mac..." Sam drawled, running her hand along his sleeve. "I'll go. But I won't forget." She winked at him and walked out of the gym, intent on heading back to her room.

Nadia waves cheerfully at Mac from the dance floor. He may or may not be able to spot the shape of a hammer-ish thing if her skirt falls the right way.

He's not sure what that hammerish thing is she might have, but he's sure that it's just because Nadia always seems to be prepared for any kind of event.
