"Guess what?" Herc asked, and then, in case everyone hadn't guessed yet, he held up his newly de-casted arm and wiggled his fingers for them. "Not going to pretend it's good as new yet, but it's serviceable. This week we're going to work on making do with what you've got. Sometimes you need a weapon, and sometimes, well, you don't exactly have a weapon. What you do have is what's to hand: a pen might not be all that sharp, but if you stab someone with enough force with it, in the right place, you can at least give them a hell of a bruise, and it might be enough to get them to let go of you. Or if you haven't got anything else, throw a handful of dirt in their face. There's almost always something you can use." Like an oil tanker as a Louisville Slugger. "So, we've got an assortment of objects here, and let's brainstorm. How could you use them in a fight?"

Creatively

Listen, pet Max, start brainstorming, etc.

There's a table full of objects, including:

a standard spiral notebook
a rubber duckie
a paperback copy of War & Peace
a laptop power cord
a standard coffee mug (empty)
a toothbrush
and a rawhide bone (Max is going to want that back after class)

How do you use them as weapons?

Once they ping in.

Because Herc is strictly opposed to the end of the world.

Mordin Solus

"Garrote," Mordin piped up immediately. He pointed to the power cord and the toothbrush. "Wrap cord around throat. Tighten by twisting rod from behind. Sneaky. Takes little musculature." An advantage for a scrawny little thing like Mordin.

Of course, Alex was going to pick War & Peace. "You could give someone a concussion with that thing."

Billy Kaplan

"If you broke the coffee mug, it could end up having sharp edges," Billy pointed out. "You could probably do some stabbing damage, and it even has a nice handle to it so you don't get hurt too."

Billy was so, so glad the island wasn't doing its hormone thing this week, so he could actually listen to Herc and focus at the same time. Well, mostly.

Snow White

Snow picked the toothbrush from the remaining items. "You would have to be close, but the handle could be used to strike at your opponent's eyes, or with enough force, into a sensitive part of their body."

Mavis Dracula

"I could fly over and drop most of those things on people's heads," Mavis offered. "...The duck probably wouldn't hurt very much."

Alana

Alana took the notebook and pulled out the wire. "You could poke somebody's eyes out with this, or shock 'em if you got it hooked up to electricity."

Jessica Drew

"A laptop power cord is just a brick on a wire. You could get big impact in with a swing. Given a choice, I'm either taking that or the bone," Jessica said. "The bone works as a bludgeon or to get a dog to help you out, so it's multi-purpose."
