Live Entertainment Appreciation, Thursday, Period 5

"I told Portalocity to just surprise us and just pick an outdoor sporting event of some sort today," Jonothon admitted, standing on the Causeway a few extra steps back from the class, hair a little more tousled than usual and an uncharacteristic smirk on his face. "I think we could all use a break from this bloody island, at least for an hour or two. The fresh air will do us some good, hopefully, and there was no way in hell I was coming up with a proper class this week."

At least he admitted it.

"So, I want you all to be on your best behavior out there in the stands. I'm not in any mood to figure out how to bail you from an ancient Roman prison or something, this week."

Without any more ado, because honestly, getting off the island couldn't hurt any of them today, he waved his students through the portal, and into… a set of bleachers that were raised a fair distance off the ground. From their shaded seating, they could see that there were fourteen people flying out over a field. Half of them were dressed in robes of blue with silver arrows on them, the other half was wearing robes of black and yellow stripes with a wasp on the front, and all of them were riding around on… broomsticks.

Jono just sort of stood in the stands and stared for a minute before clearing his throat and taking a seat.

"I actually have no bloody clue what this is," he admitted. "But I suppose we might as well sit down, watch, and find out."

Enjoy a professional Quidditch match between the Appleby Arrows and the Wimbourne Wasps, students.

This time, Mavis went for something a little less extreme than the full Plague Doctor outfit she'd worn to the baseball game, since she wasn't being forced into the whole tricorne hat thing.

Thus, she was currently twirling a black parasol in one hand, holding a bag of cockroach clusters in the other, and looking -- as much as one could when one's mouth was stuffed with a blood lolly -- like she was having the time of her life.

"Oppph mmmmmm gheeee dif iff awfum!"

Cecil was practically hopping as much as the chocolate he was having problems fun catching. He grinned hugely at Mavis. "It is! And I can float by myself today!" Those fizzy things were a lot of fun!

Also, he was totally shoving a bunch of the pepper imps in his pockets for Raven later on; he thought she'd get a kick out of using them to breathe fire as a dragon.

"Without needing to worry about getting burned at the stake." Judging by, you know. All the people on brooms.

"That, too," he agreed. Not that a good burning couldn't bring a town together, but he'd rather it not happen to him. Or his friends.

"That looks like a lot of fun, too." He got some fudge flies for Foucault, who was sort of clinging to/wrapped up in his sweater to avoid all the feet in the stands. "I wonder if they sell the broomsticks?"

"If they're like the ones at home," Mavis said, giving her parasol another spin, "We wouldn't be able to control them ourselves. Unless you're a witch?"

"Not that I know of." Cecil shrugged. "It is pretty neat, though." He cheered as one of the... someones... did... something. But all the other folks with black and yellow on were cheering!

"I've decided to cheer for the wasps," he explained. "Mr Starsmore likes the arrows. What do you think?"

Mavis did a brief shift to bat -- which left her parasol and candy floating in mid-air for a second -- then back to humanoid. "I think I'll go with the Wasps. Wing solidarity."

Bay got an assortment of candy, and regretted it when the chocolate frogs hopped away. On the other hand, floating when she ate the fruit sherbert was pretty cool.

"Do we know what the rules are?" Cecil bounced over to Jono and squinted up at him. "Do we know if there are rules?"

He fed Foucault a few fudge flies and tried to see what was going on.

"Hm." Cecil nodded. He could follow that. "So who should we root for? I think I sort of like the bees."

Cecil grinned. "I guess that means we're on opposite sides. Go, wasps!"
