Modern American History- Monday- 2nd period

Class was in a regular classroom today, and Kitty was sitting on top of her desk, looking pretty okay about being here. Shhh, she liked teaching.

"Hey, guys. Welcome to Modern American History. If you don't already know me, I'm Kitty Pryde, though I'm not really picky on what you call me," she told them. "In this class we're going to be going over the events of the last century and all, and today's going to be an easy day, because I want to know where we're starting from, and also because it's Labor Day and no one should be at school today as it is. So, let's just go around and you can tell me who you are, where you're from, and if there's anything in particular you want to learn about."

Bonus to a small class size: you could actually focus on stuff like that.

"Hey, I'm Theo from Santa Monica, California," he said, giving the small class a wave. "As for what I'd like to learn about?"

He shrugged. "Maybe the Civil Rights movement? It's brought up a lot in modern day news but I'll admit, I don't know a lot about what went down."

"Doubtful," Theo said, shaking his head. "But, cool, thanks. I'm looking forward to it."

"I'm Jessica Drew, from New York," Jessica said. "And I'm really interested in the wars America has been in since the first Gulf War. From what I've gathered, that's where a lot of things have started to diverge significantly in my world."

"We just made it through a civil war that briefly split the country up into several pieces," Jessica said. "Before that was a big war with an interdimensional invasion force in Europe, an Iranian superhuman revolution, and a global force assembled against the US since we were winning the genetic arms race."

"As far as I can tell, most Earths had none of that in the last few years. So we really went off the rails at some point."

"I'm Billy, and I'm from New York," he said. "I also think the wars are probably the most interesting part of American History, as awful as that is, so studying any of the modern ones would be good."
