Monsters and Humans. Lecture: Misinformation (film). Friday, Period 4
Both Drac and Mavis were already in the room today, as was hopefully going to be the norm. Mavis was still a wolf, though, which was hopefully not going to be normal. Drac was reading that stupid Dracula novel again. It had talked about transforming into a wolf, so maybe it had some clue about changing back from one? Mavis didn't seem as concerned; she was bouncing around the class, being chased by a zombie playmate. Well, technically it was just a zombie, a relative of one of the bandmembers from Caritas, but since Mavis had his armbone and was running around the room with it, he was unwittingly her new playmate.
Mavis seemed to find ithumerus humourous?
Startled at the arrival of the first of his students- he hadn't noticed how much time had passed!- Drac closed his book and smiled as the children filed in.
He stood to begin his lecture:
"As I hope you are all aware, spreading misinformation can be very hazardous. It spreads fear and mistrust and can cause not only hurt feelings, but also causes physical harm."
Drac took a moment to look sympathetically at the students.
"Like myself, many of you have been bullied simply for being what you are, have been forced to live a life apart or in hiding, all because of people being misinformed. I hope that none of you has personally experienced the pain or loss that accompanies being feared."
He took in a few of the humans in his class.
"Any of you."
He'd lived through enough of the world to know that humans even hated other humans.
"Today I am going to show you one of the means by which misinformation can be spread. We had books last week; this week I have found an early moving picture version of a vampire myth, used to spread fear and hatred among humans in the 1920s. It contains a good number of the stereotypes we spoke of last week."
He clapped and the zombie stopped playing tug of arm with Mavis and headed for a trolly at the back of the room that was supporting an old projector.
"Gerald here has assured me he is a licensed projectionist, so while it is unusual to have the projector in the same room as the viewers, there is no need to worry about the film catching fire." He gave the zombie a stern glare and it cowered slightly and groaned assent before reaching out to fumble one handedly with the apparatus.
"After the show, we will have a discussion about the film."

Chat with one of the TAs?
Is Evan here? Does he have an arm?
Re: Chat with one of the TAs?
Well, whose arm was that?
Re: Chat with one of the TAs?
...Whoops. Until she dropped it.
