There were yet more handouts, this week. Also a table covered in what looked suspiciously like props.
"Good morning, class," Bond began when they'd finished arriving. "Today we're going to be talking about safe sex, which is sex where steps have been taken to reduce the risks of either unwanted pregnancy or contracting a sexually transmitted infection."
"Now in the case of birth control there are currently a number of different methods of varying degrees of success, amongst the more effective methods are abstaining from penile-vaginal intercourse, hormonal methods which work to prevent the implantation of a fertilised ovum, and barrier methods which work by keeping semen from coming into contact with ova in the first place."
And if you were unsure about anything Bond had just said, he had more slides, he was helpful like that.
"On the other hand, when it comes to disease prevention, while there are vaccines for some STIs, and many non-penetrative sex acts have a lower risk of disease transmission, the most effective form of protection for penetrative sex, or any kind of sex act involving contact with another person's genitals are barrier methods such as dental dams or condoms.
"In fact, a correctly used latex or nitrile condom is the most effective form of safe sex as it lowers the risk of pregnancy or infection to a fraction of that of unprotected sex. Which is why we're going to have one of this class's only practical exercises learning to correctly roll on a condom, which is one of many skills it's better to have and never need, than to need and not have."
Bond then went on to explain and demonstrate the correct method, leaving the now condom wrapped cylinder on the table, before adding "Now it may happen that a prospective lover may argue that he is 'too big' for a condom to fit him." He took a fresh condom and stretched it over his forearm. "I would advise against sleeping with such a person as they are either a bald-faced liar, or too large to safely have sex with at all."
"Now if you want more information on anything discussed in today's class, I would strongly advise you to stop by the clinic and talk to one of the nurses there." Just try to go on a day Navaan wasn't on shift. "They are both helpful and discreet."
