This Thing You Humans Call Love [Wednesday, 2nd Period]
Today, in addition to the question box and index cards, Bond had handouts. Once his students had arrived, he began.
"Good morning, now given last weeks introductions, I feel that we should probably start at the beginning, namely what exactly is it that we are talking about when we talk about having sex."
"Now, while this school has a better than average run, most often these kind of classes will primarily focus on, or even go so far as to exclusively define 'sex' as penile-vaginal intercourse, which as as the name might suggest, involves a the insertion of the penis into the vagina." Bond went on to explain the act in more detail, including slides with diagrams, taking care not to make eye-contact throughout. "I'll admit that there is a certain practicality to this focus, as this particular sexual act is the one that results in children, however, it also fails to take into account the wider range of human sexuality. Simply in terms of attraction alone, while a great many people are attracted to solely the opposite sex, others are solely attracted to their own, still others to both, and some people to no one else at all."
"Then there's the range of possible acts, while penile-vaginal intercourse results in children, even amongst heterosexual couples for many people having children is not the sole, or even primary goal of sex. Rather they have sex for pleasure, or companionship, or an expression of love, all things which many other sexual acts, both penetrative or non-pentrative can provide in and of themselves. However as I've possibly embarrassed you enough for one week, we'll go into more detail in other classes."
