Archery 102 [Friday, 1st Period]

If anyone had told Clint, when he first got to Fandom, that he'd be looking forward to teaching, he probably wouldn't have believed it. And yet here he was, counting heads to make sure everyone was accounted for as the students filed into the Danger Shop. He'd gotten pretty good at the controls over the last few weeks, and had what he considered his standard setup going - a sunny outdoor field--with much cooler weather than whatever was actually going on outside--with a row of targets lined up and a table of bows and quivers.

"Hey folks, welcome to archery," he said once everyone was there. "I'm Clint Barton, and it's really nice to have you here. I know you're probably tired of introducing yourself but I do want to make sure I learn your names. So, let me know who you are and why you decided to take this class, and maybe how much experience you have, if any. If you already know what you're doing, feel free to take some time to practice. If not, I can help you get started."

Seriously, the saving grace to these classes was definitely the hot teachers. More schools should have those, really.

"My name's Cordelia Chase, and I didn't actually sign up for any of the classes I'm apparently taking," she said. "Like really, does this school not have math?"

She paused.

"Not that I'm arguing for math or anything."

"I think the school is geared more towards useful subjects. Uh, not that math isn't useful," Clint said quickly. "Just not, you know, every day."

"Well duh." Sorry. "But if I really have to use archery every day, I think I'm going to have to quit life."

To be absolutely fair... she could probably totally use archery every day in Sunnydale. Which was a reason why she left there.

"Aww, there's no need for that. This is a really nice place that just gets hit with things like flying jalepenos every once in a while," Clint said. "Just try to keep an open mind, yeah? If nothing else, having better aim always makes defending yourself from losers easier."

"Hi, I'm Bay," Bay said, with a tiny wave. "I did archery during gym class in eighth grade, so I'm, like, just barely above beginner level. And I'm here 'cause the island seems like the kind of place where I need some more useful fighting skills than screaming and flailing."

"Screaming and running away can be a totally viable plan, but I'm a big proponent of learning to defend yourself," Clint said. "This place does kind of like to throw things at us, doesn't it?"

"Ah, you're practically an expert then," Clint said with a laugh. "You've seen a little of everything this place gives us to deal with, that's good. I can't help with like, turning into an animal or anything, but staying safe? That I can do."
