Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

The weather was just as hazy, hot and humid as a typical July on the East Coast of the United States could get, but the sun was shining brightly, which was kind of a rarity this summer.

It wasn't raining anything weird, the teal deer were keeping to themselves in the Preserve, and another welcome picnic was underway complete with tables and chairs for chatting around and a buffet table filled (and then some) with all kinds of ~~moddable~~ summer treats.

The lists of new roommates, student siblings and teaching buddies were posted in a prominent location. Now all that was needed were people to enjoy the day!

[OOC: This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic will be in post two in an effort to stop our browsers from dying. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers and townies!

"That there aren't any RA's in the dorms and we get fantastic vacations? Yeah, that was in the brochure," Cordelia said, shaking her hand. Maybe she just had poor blood circulation?

"That's a start," Anna said slowly. "And true, from what I understand. I can't take any of the vacations." Noooo, she wasn't at all bitter, why did you ask. "Fandom High is very diverse. We get students from all sorts of different...worlds." She was watching Cordelia's reaction very closely, yes.

"...Their own personal worlds?" Cordelia asked, kind of starting to figure that maybe Anna was some kind of hippie. "Is this like a metaphorical thing?"

"No, I mean literal other worlds. Like extraterrestrials. And universes," Anna added. "Those, too."

Cordelia eyed her. "ET goes to school here?"

Sadly, she couldn't be too freaked out. For reasons.

"Most of them just look like people," Anna said with a shrug. "It's not at all like in the movies." Kind of disappointing, if you asked her. "And there are people with, I don't know, magical powers, and people from different time periods. I think there's one girl from World War I."

"I'm suing whoever put that brochure together," Cordelia decided.

"I haven't seen the brochure myself," Anna said, not unsympathetically, "but I've heard that's a common complaint. But the good news is, everything about the vacations and no RAs is true, and there's no drinking age here on the island...except one of the bars still cards for some reason, I never figured that out but they used to pay me to bounce people so I didn't care." She shrugged. "But sometimes weird stuff happens. If you see anything little and green? It's a gremlin, try not to get bitten."

"What's a gremlin?" Sunnydale didn't even have those.

"They're kind of a pest," Anna explained, "only something in their bite makes people hallucinate."

"And where is the exterminator?" she asked, sounding a little alarmed.

"I don't know," Anna admitted apologetically. "Mostly we just try to avoid them."
