Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

The weather was just as hazy, hot and humid as a typical July on the East Coast of the United States could get, but the sun was shining brightly, which was kind of a rarity this summer.

It wasn't raining anything weird, the teal deer were keeping to themselves in the Preserve, and another welcome picnic was underway complete with tables and chairs for chatting around and a buffet table filled (and then some) with all kinds of moddable summer treats.

The lists of new roommates, student siblings and teaching buddies were posted in a prominent location. Now all that was needed were people to enjoy the day!

[OOC: This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic will be in post two in an effort to stop our browsers from dying. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers and townies!

Which meant his big sibling had been a dog. His father had definitely not researched this place which made Flick like it a little bit more.

"Which means I'm learning about the weird, freaky stuff from an expert. It's kind of comforting."

"I'm only an expert because I've been here for like a year and some change, now," Sparkle replied, shrugging. "That's why they have this sibling thing, you know? Most people hear 'turned into a dog' and they think I'm on drugs or something."

Which, well, he occasionally was. But that didn't change the fact that he'd been the most annoying corgi the island had ever seen.

"Would've been some pretty good drugs if you were thinking you were a dog," Flick quipped with a small grin. "If I was into that sort of thing, I'd ask you to share but I should probably stick to Tylenol when it comes to drugs. Easier for my stomach to handle."

Flick didn't think it'd last.

"So, if it makes me boring, I'll take it. Been called worse."

Much worse.

"I'm sure there's a club for that around here," Sparkle noted. "If there isn't, there probably will be come the fall. And if that club exists... Shit, I might want to join it, too."

He gave his shoulders a shrug.

"I'd just as soon go back home, but this place is shitty at letting go."

"Uh huh."

He didn't plan on staying long. Couldn't. Not with Joi back home and Lucian Mandel loose and probably plotting his next murder. He couldn't afford to stay too long. He needed to get out soon.

"Well, we'll see how close it wants to hold me. I'll be interested to see if tries to keep me here or kicks me out."

"You're here at all, man," Sparkle replied, giving him a sympathetic look. "From here on until you graduate, usually it's pretty much hopeless."

Sorry Sparkle, it wasn't you. Flick was going to be wary of anything and everything for a good long while. He probably wouldn't ever lose it but he'd try and hide it.

"I'll stick around awhile, see how it goes. And then play it by ear after that."

"Pretty much the only way to do it," Sparkle noted. "Sometimes I get tempted to just take off across the Causeway and try to live on the streets in Baltimore, but I'm pretty sure someone would find me and drag me back if I tried."

In fact, he'd give it less than a day before someone tried.

Yeah, Flick didn't think anyone would drag him back mostly because only one person knew where he was. Joi was probably pissed as hell right now. Had to be done, though.

"You should give it a try," Flick said with a lazy, unconcerned shrug. "See if your guess is right. Do it for science."

"That'd be some science," Sparkle noted, pursing his lips a little. "Yeah, we'll see. I know I can survive it, anyhow."

He held up his backpack, smiling faintly. "In the meantime, they have a full spread over there on the food tables, and I intend to keep some leftovers. Whatever I end up doing, I'm not about to pass up free food."

"Smart man." Free stuff was free stuff. He'd probably be doing the same though transporting the food was going to be tricky. "Thanks again, Sparkle. Sure I'll be seeing you."

"I try to be difficult to miss," Sparkle shared. Because if people were looking for a loud, flamboyant shit-stirrer of a teen, it was that much easier for him to hide when he actually wanted to. "See you 'round, Flick. Welcome to the madhouse."
