Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

The weather was just as hazy, hot and humid as a typical July on the East Coast of the United States could get, but the sun was shining brightly, which was kind of a rarity this summer.

It wasn't raining anything weird, the teal deer were keeping to themselves in the Preserve, and another welcome picnic was underway complete with tables and chairs for chatting around and a buffet table filled (and then some) with all kinds of moddable summer treats.

The lists of new roommates, student siblings and teaching buddies were posted in a prominent location. Now all that was needed were people to enjoy the day!

[OOC: This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic will be in post two in an effort to stop our browsers from dying. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers and townies!

"Two terms, so since January," Jack told her. "It took me a while to feel like I had a decent class in mind. Besides, I didn't know about the donuts."

"Yeah?" Jack gave her an interested look. "What kinds of things are you thinking about?"

"Well, we don't seem to have a lot of 'normal' classes here," she said. "So maybe computer science or history or religion or science or something. Or math. Kids really don't get enough math these days."

"And that's a problem?" Jack checked. His own math didn't go much past algebra.

"You use it in everyday life more than you'd think. Not to mention, a lot of the big sciencey jobs need math and you'd have to take it in college anyway," she said. "Also I like math."

"I don't, but you're right anyhow," Jack admitted. "I had to do a lot of online courses to catch up enough to start college. Though now you have me wondering if I should try to teach history in the fall."

"Modern American History is my #1 choice for fall," she warned. "Unless the students drive me away screaming. I can fight you for it, though."

"Arm wrestle or trivia match?" Jack asked cheerfully, not terribly serious about the entire thing. "Not that I know much about American history to begin with. Different dimension issues."

"Oh, yeah, there's tons of different subsets in history," she said. "And I was thinking Rock-Em Sock-Em Robots."

"I think you'd have the edge on me in that one." Which just meant Jak would spend the rest of the summer figuring out what exactly Rock-Em Sock-Em Robots was and getting good at it for the sake of a joke.
