Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

The weather was just as hazy, hot and humid as a typical July on the East Coast of the United States could get, but the sun was shining brightly, which was kind of a rarity this summer.

It wasn't raining anything weird, the teal deer were keeping to themselves in the Preserve, and another welcome picnic was underway complete with tables and chairs for chatting around and a buffet table filled (and then some) with all kinds of moddable summer treats.

The lists of new roommates, student siblings and teaching buddies were posted in a prominent location. Now all that was needed were people to enjoy the day!

[OOC: This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic will be in post two in an effort to stop our browsers from dying. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers and townies!

"It's better than some schools, anyhow," Evan replied, wrinkling his nose a little. "We get a lot of students here who are running from worse things back home, you know? From people who just don't understand them, so they're afraid... things like that."

"It's great to be going to school on an island where everyone fits in, even if it's only by virtue of nobody fitting in."

"Yeah, I can guess," Emma said. She figured some didn't fit in more than other though.

Evan nodded a little, and then gave his toe an awkward little scuff against the ground.

"So... is there anything that I can help you with, now that you're here? I can tell you how to get to any of the stores in town, or help you find your room, or... pretty much anything like that."

"No, I think I'm good for now," Emma said with a just as awkward half shrug. She wasn't sure she'd be sticking around long enough to need any of that.

"Oh..." Evan bit his lip for a moment, and then nodded a little. "That's fine. Some people settle in faster than others, right? But if you do need anything, I'm pretty easy to find. I'm in room 330, and if I'm not there, I'm probably in the library or in class."

"Cool..." Evan offered Emma one last tiny, fairly awkward smile, and then scratched the back of his neck. "I guess I'll go and join the rest of the picnic, then. Um... See you around, Emma. And welcome to Fandom Island."
