Ben and Anakin were waiting in their usual spot for their students to arrive. "Welcome to Kaz-" Ben frowned, then tried again. "Kazik--"

"Kazakhstan," Anakin finished for him. "It's a country in central Asia."

Rory had told him. Shhh.

"It's cooler there than our last destination, so you will not be getting wet," he continued. "I'm not guaranteeing anything about not getting messy, though."

Isn't he reassuring, class?

Ben shook his head. "Race hard, be safe, don't tick anyone off, and we'll see you at the end of the class."

WTF Kazakhstan.

Wait for the the next student to arrive, then pair up and put on a two-person cow costume from the Almaty Puppet Theater. Walk across town to the marketplace, where you will have to drink an entire glass of fresh milk. Your next location is printed (in Russian script) at the bottom of your glass.

Ask a local to translate if you aren't fluent in Russian.

Search among 30,000 chickens (seriously, 30,000) for one of 13 golden eggs that you then give to the farmer watching you. He will hand you a clue that tells you where Anakin and Ben are waiting.

Or travel to the State Museum of National Musical Instruments and learn to play a traditional folk tune on the dombra or the shang-kobuz which you then play for locals to earn tips totaling 200₸ (approximately equivalent to US$1.50) in a park to receive your next clue.

So...tedium or potential tone-deafness. Choose wisely!

Okay, so it looked like Theo would be waiting. While he waited, he did put on one half of the cow costume and grumbled the entire time. Dev was grumbling right along with him in his head. Even Ange was a little dubious of this one.

Theo didn't know why he chose to search for golden eggs. He really didn't know. Ange and Dev were both pointing him towards the instruments because it would be both educational and easier but Theo went against them both.

And maybe he chose the eggs because it was against them both and he wanted to prove he could still do that. But this was taking forever and there were so many chickens and he just wanted to scream.

It felt like it took hours (it didn't take that long) but Theo eventually located the eggs. He'd lost a ton of time though so he was just going to...walk slowly the rest of the way.

Theo came jogging in, still smelling like chicken most likely. That hadn't been fun and he knew he was near the bottom of the pack. So much for his string of strong finishes.

"You're the eleventh to arrive today," Anakin told him. "Did you pick the chickens?"

"That wasn't my smartest choice ever," Theo said grumpily. "I thought the golden eggs would stand out or something."

"... so which one of us has to be the back end?"

Victor sounded thrilled about the whole idea. Really.

"Well, that means not being able to see pretty much anything," Theo said thoughtfully, "so...are you good with directions while wearing a dumb costume?"

Victor didn't want to depend on the kindness of strangers, so he picked the chickens. He hit it lucky; the golden egg was under the second chicken he checked.

He sprinted off to the finish as soon as he had the final clue.

Victor was grinning as he ran up. He could tell he'd done pretty well, and he was going to glory in it.

Victor shrugged. "I'm good with directions," he said. "Don't walk around in dumb costumes enough to know if I'm good at that part."

"Then, you can be the front and I'll be the -- " Sigh. " -- backside. If you can get us there quick, I'd be appreciative."

"Absolutely. I don't wanna be stuck in this thing any longer than you do, dude," Victor said sympathetically, then picked up his half of the cow costume to see how hard it'd be to put on.

Theo made sure his half of the costume was on and secure. He didn't really need the whole end falling off before they got there and they had to stop and waste more time to get him back together.

"I'm good whenever you are."

"May as well get it over with," Victor said. His voice echoed weirdly from inside the cow head.

He backed up to hook his part of the costume to Theo's, then started heading very slowly across the street. He was not going to get killed by a taxi while dressed like a cow.

And Theo was pretty much walking blindly. He trusted Victor to get them where they needed to be but it was still weird to not be able to see where they were going.

It was hot in the costume too despite the cool temperatures. He matched Victor's pace and didn't slow them down.
