How to Be One with Your City, Wednesday, Period Two

Same noir city, same noir time, kiddos! Except this time they started up on the roof of a building. Oh, and their teacher wasn't there. Instead, there was a note. Prominently enough displayed that they'd notice it, even if they were otherwise on their own this time.

Find me.
Use your senses, move fast, and don't get caught.

A rooftop. No teacher, but there's the note.

All around, the city is buzzing with the usual city life. Cars horns and engines all blending into one sound. The only thing that stands out – briefly, faintly, from where the students are standing – is the distant sound of an ice cream truck...

And in the streets below, they could see shadowy figures patroling the streets. Thugs, ready to catch errant kids who had no business being there.

Make Your Way Through the City [City 05/22]

If the students decide to take the sound of the ice cream truck as the hint it is and follow it, they have to make their way through twisty streets and back alleys, avoiding the nasty-looking thugs. Occasionally, the only way to get past them is via rooftops, but sadly, being on the street level with them is sometimes necessary. Just be sneaky and stay in the shadows until their backs are turned.

If students ignore the ice cream truck and go in other directions... They will still have to be wary of thugs and getting caught. But maybe they could still stop a moddable mugging while they were wandering the city. The Spirit wanted to give them chances to do something useful to do, even if they went against his assignment.

And if the thugs catch you, you get booted back to the roof you started from.

Victor ignored the ice cream truck at first, reasoning that it seemed too obvious. He went the opposite direction, finding himself deep in a warren of back alleys and restaurant dumpsters.

He managed to convince a teenager not to take an old woman's purse -- his powers could be very persuasive when he wanted them to be -- and then realized he'd hit a dead end. With no better ideas and a stink of old Chinese food rising off his clothes, he began heading toward the ice cream truck's distant melody.
