There are different dialects, this is so--they're not so much dependent on region or class, as they often are in spoken languages, but on breed. For example, a Persian will understand 'food' in a different way than an Abbysian.
But, as speakers of the same language can get at least the 'gist' of even the deepest regional accent, so can all animals basically understand one another.
