Fandom High Graduation Ceremony, Class of 2013, Early Saturday Evening [Part 2]

As the last graduate took his seat with his diploma, a faint rumble rattled the folding chairs.

The noise grew louder and the tremors grew worse and true to Fandom graduation protocols, a invisible, impenetrable dome came down to separate the graduates from the rest of the audience.

The rumble faded away into uneasy silence.

Then:

"Dig...Lett...DIG!"

Now might be a good time to see what's in those ACME boxes, grads...

"I am not entirely certain," Raven said. "I know it will be soon. I have placed everything I do not need in storage in Gotham, however, and I am ready to go as soon as she is. But I would like to be able to say my goodbyes to Barbara and Helena and Alfred before we go."

Dinah smiled at her, bumping her arm against hers. "How about a good-bye dinner this week? Alfred can make your favorites. And I bet Barbara has a surprise or two up her sleeve for you."

"I would like that very much," Raven said, smiling back and leaning her head on Dinah's shoulder. "I will miss them all when we leave."

"I'm going to miss you too." Dinah put her arm around Raven's shoulders. "I'll be seeing you all this summer, or however long it takes to get Glacia sorted out. But it won't be the same."

"Will you be able to protect New Gotham without me?" Raven said, teasing. "Or will that man in the green hood be around more often?"

"Heeeeyyy," Dinah objected, turning pinker and poking at Raven. "I guess we'll see. Or I'll see. Or something. Pffttt!"

"If you do not mind me asking, what is going on between you and Priestley?" Raven had to ask, because nosy empath was nosy. Her tone was still gently teasing, though. "Are you keeping one man in Gotham and one in Fandom?"

"Oh God not you too! Raveeeen! I thought you loved meeee!" Dinah thunked her head on Raven's shoulder.

"I do!" Raven protested. "That is why I asked, because I want those I love to be happy. And you have just been spending a lot of time with him as of late!"

"Uuuunf." Dinah straightened, then considered Raven's question in that light. "Nothing's changed between us that way. We're still best friends. Not dating." She thought a minute, then admitted, "There were more than the usual number of scares in a row. So I might be hanging out here more lately, especially since I'll be gone more this summer. And... I dunno. He's fun to flirt with? Because it never goes anywhere else beyond that?" This was not a topic she had all her words in a row for. She cocked her head. "What do you pick up on, when you're around us?"

"I try not to spy on my friends when it comes to matters of romance," Raven said. "Unless I am asked. It would be rude."

And too much of a temptation as well, so she did her best to shield it out unless she thought something was wrong.

"Smart." And kind of good to know that nothing empathic in particular had prompted that question. "Momoko and Karla have been poking at us, trying to get us together, off and on all year. Which would just be funny if they weren't so invested in it for their own reasons. I think they've given up on it for now, though."

Well, she could dream, anyway.

"Well, I assure you I am not so invested in the two of you together," Raven said. "I am invested in your happiness...and I could become invested in you and the hooded man."

Because unf.

Dinah snickered, then hugged herself. "I kissed him. Weeks ago. Because I wanted, you know, to see what he'd do. Which was mostly stare in shock."

"Was it a good kiss?" Raven had to ask.

"Yeeeeah." Dinah grinned, looking down. "I should've given him more warning. But. It was very good. I said I wanted him to quit playing games." She shivered, rubbing her arms. "I might go to Starling City, if I don't see him around New Gotham soon."

"And I will expect a full report," Raven teased. "I am disappointed you did not tell me this sooner!"

She had a terrible fake pouty face, though.

Snickering, Dinah defended herself, "First there were future kids, then we were in a dungeon, then we were in Japan... I should've told you in Japan. I'm sorry!" She paused. "And now I'm wondering what that would've been like if Arrow were there too. Hmmmmmmm."

"That is true, and I am not really upset," Raven said, nodding. "Perhaps you will have to invite him to our next social gathering then. He owes me a favor for healing him, does he not?"

No, not really, but she'd pretend.

Dinah bumped shoulders with Raven. "Bad girl." But her tone and emotions were the direct opposite. "Maybe? That's... yeah. I really do need to talk to him. Get some things clear."

Like, would they ever be more than fight-and-flirt buddies? Would he ever give up a name? Did he already know hers?

"Reminds me; how're you doing now? It's been a couple months since the mess with Eric. And then the vampire thing hit again. And now going to Kaeleer..."

Raven's smile faded a little. "I am fine," she said. "I have been doing my best to prepare myself for Glacia. I know it will not be easy there, but...I will do my best. Karla and her people need me, and I will not disappoint them."

"I know you won't." Dinah gave her a contemplative look. "But.. humor me here. Anything got you worried? Anything I can help with?" She didn't think there had to be. But it was a huuuge responsibility. Even bigger than Karla's problems, at least when they first got there.

Raven fell quiet for a moment, staring down at her lap. "It is nothing anyone can help me with," she said. "Though I appreciate the offer, of course. There are things I must settle within myself, and no one else can do that but me."

"Okay." Good enough. Dinah hugged Raven against her side again, and said, "I'm here if you need me. And so's New Gotham, if you ever need a break." She grinned. "And Alfred's cooking."

"I know, and thank you," Raven said, finding a smile again. "It is hard to say how much time we will have to spare, but I hope there will be some. There is Sookie and Bobby's wedding to look forward to, for one thing."
