There Will Be Cake [Tuesday, Period Three]

Once his students finished arriving, Bond looked around the classroom, and counted. He had hoped that today's radio had been a technical malfunction.

"Good afternoon," he said. "I'm hoping that today's absences are the result of emotional stress from yesterday evening rather than the beginnings of something untoward, but in either case it might be an idea to give class a miss today. Your homework is head over to the dorms and cook up some comfort food in the common rooms. We may need it."

If there's anything to want to say before heading back out

Electroclash wasn't a student, true. But she'd come over to the school for her office hours and, well. Something was off. She hadn't listened to the radio this morning, but she had eyes, and there seemed to be a lot less people about than usual.

Not to mention this was the only class that was apparently even remotely held today. So she ws poking her head in.

"Okay, what the fuck is going on?"

"I'm rather hoping they're all just nursing hangovers in bed," Bond replied, dryly enough that she could probably guess how likely he thought that was. "But if this morning's radio is any indication, people are up and vanishing. Again."

Wasn't it wonderful they lived on an island where he needed to use that 'again'?

Just marvelous.

"Oh for fuck's sake."

"Less work to do, I guess, but that's still not good."

"Usually not." And he could make that assessment because of all the other times people had disappeared and horrible things ensued. "Though so far that seems to be the only thing that's off."

"Well it took me this long to notice anything amiss, so you're right on that count." Of course, she was just generally oblivious and kind of a hermit. Had she not decided to come into work today, she could've taken days to notice it. "Feel like I should be getting ready for creepy crawlies or some shit like that all over the island, anyway."

Bond really wasn't in a position to judge on hermitness, really wasn't. "It'd hardly go amiss if we did," he said. "Even if this comes to nothing it's better not to be caught unawares."

Terribly British hermitness for the win?

She shrugged. "Maybe just stock up on food and stay home." She was a great hero.

Truly inspiring.

"So long as you remembered enough booze," Bond quipped. Because you couldn't be a proper hermit without the borderline alcoholism.

"Oh, I've got that side well covered, good man." Of course she did. "And even if I didn't, I'd probably break into April's flat and nick hers."

"I do hope she has good taste in spirits then." Because if you were going to ignore an impending crisis in favour of getting drunk, it should be on quality liquor.

"Well, it looked like when I got a look at her stash." Eating April's ice cream after causing a blackout on her apartment. "So I should be covered."

"Excellent, then." Bond, don't encourage your colleges to steal other people's alcohol.

But they weren't doing anything with it!

"You're welcome to join me. Probably not with the breaking an' entering, though."

Because when in doubt, make friends with your countrymen and have tea and booze until things blow over?

Well if they weren't doing anything with it...

"Want to keep all the fun to yourself?" Bond teased. "If we swing by my office first, we can tap into my emergency stash."

One of his emergency stashes, anyway.

"Sure." More booze the merrier, right? She shrugged. "Name's Sarah, by the way. Or, well, Electroclash."

Since she was currently in uniform and all.

"Bond. James Bond," he replied. "Afraid I don't have a codename though."

Liar, 007.

"Well, it's more of a cape thing." And a secret agent thing, but whatevs, as they said. "James will do."

Bond smiled. "Indeed it will," he said. "I suspect you wear a cape much better than I would."

"Don't wear one." No, just a dress and some go-go boots. As you do. "But if I did, yes, I'd wear it better."

Well, if it was a dress and go-go boots then Bond might give her some competition.

He nodded agreement. "After all, you need a certain amount of panache to pull off a cape, swagger, even." Because swagger was something he was totally unfamiliar with, really.
