Ethics [Thursday, April 4, 2013, 2nd period]

"Well, it's the week leading up to prom, so of course this--" Anakin gestured to the air around them, looking even more annoyed than usual (if you could even tell), "--is happening. Your assignment today will be writing very long--not dirty--essays about the ethical consequences of acting entirely on the prompting of your hormones. Things to think about include unplanned children, sexually transmitted diseases, destroying pre-existing relationships, and secret marriages that lead to galactic strife."

That last one was probably just you, Anakin.

"I've brought you books from the library to use as sources," he added, pointing to what he hoped were the most boring books on anatomy and relationships in the whole multiverse. "Please don't talk to each other. It'll only make things worse."

This was a sobering subject for Victor -- sobering enough to completely wake him up from that dream he'd had about Olive and Emma Frost pillow-fighting in catsuits. He wrote a few paragraphs about how following his hormones had cost him two relationships, then gingerly cracked open one of the anatomy texts.

A page of sober medical language about chlamydia seemed to be about 50 times more effective at dousing his interest than any cold shower had ever been.

Maddie had probably turned a little red during the lecture, but she actually felt sort of better once she started writing and researching. She came from somewhere where people hooked up more than dated, so she'd already rationalized/justified a lot of stuff, and it was hard to be too scared of things like getting a disease when you weren't even going to have a body in ten years.

Which did bring to mind all the "You should do these things now while you can" talk again and what was the subject again?

Jack... really didn't have to open the books to be able to write an essay on the negative implications of letting a guy who was constantly ice cold get anywhere near someone's sensitive parts for long enough for any of that stuff to be even remotely relevant.

You're welcome, Anakin.

Nope, one half of the year, she's an hour ahead of me. The other half, I'm an hour ahead of her. And then there's two separate weeks where we're on the same timezone.
