Flight- Monday- 3rd period

The students were back in the flight shed today, where Jaina was waiting. "Today we're going to cover something that most of you have been or will be on for any real time on this planet: a commercial jet, specifically a Boeing 747," she began. "And I don't want to hear any of that 'But we can use portals' stuff. I don't care. This is a passenger craft, designed to carry a lot of people a long distance in a relatively short amount of time. You're going to be carting between 400 and 650 people usually, plus their cargo, plus crew, so it's big enough that it's going to handle very differently than what you're used to."

She gave them a quick rundown of how to use the controls, then continued, "You're going to take off, fly for a bit, and then land, all without crashing. If you think you can do that, my scores are recorded, so you can go ahead and try to do better."

This plane really needed missiles. Cade had just decided that.

"Like steering a wampa," Cdae griped as he finally got the thing into the air. "Who uses engines like this any more?"

Karina would be lying if she didn't think that this was a bit more boring than some of the other weeks.

She'd also be lying if this wasn't more practical to learn, given her world.

So, like, it kinda worked out.

Anakin had his datapad out and was working on his battlebot code for Industrial Arts while he waited, but never let it be said that he wasn't capable of multitasking: he was also wishing that Dad had let him fly the Falcon (which inevitably made him think of Chewie, which led to some brooding) so he'd have more experience with bulky transports like this.

Though in his opinion that plane did not look terribly exciting.

Sigh. Responsibility. You couldn't do barrel rolls and go "Whoops!" when you crashed into a water tower if you held the lives of 600 people in your hands.

Which is to say, Ace flew and landed that airliner perfectly safely, thank you very much.

There might have been some turbulence, though. For certain pilot-induced definitions of the word.

It was a little sad how jazzed Victor was about this. He'd still never actually been on a regular plane, so to him this was just as exciting as any of the other weeks -- and a lot more practical.

Flying a plane with people in it?

How knew? Maybe Emily could use the experience. Or at least brag about it.

Emily got the thing to fly and didn't do a nosedive when she landed. All in all she felt it was a good flight.

Suffice to say, aviator was really not a choice career for her.
