Industrial Arts, Tuesday

"Today, we start with the metalworking segment of this class," Kaidan said. "Since that intersects a lot with your battlebot assignment, I... think it's time to start getting a little more focused. So. We're going to start out with some sheet metal, and we're going to see what we can do with it. You can use it to outfit your bot, add some decorations... make sure nothing falls out of it when you use it..."

Because that kind of thing was useful.

"You all have a sheet of... sheet metal in front of you," he said. "We're going to start out with drafting. You've got rulers, you've got your metal pencils... okay, it's a little 21st century, but I'm working with the tools we've got, here." No, really, GFFA types, he got you. "But that doesn't change the fundamentals. The idea is that you sketch out geometrical shapes that you can later fit together to make a 3D case, like if you want your 'bot to look like a dog, or... a box or something. You have to be really careful your measurements fit, though, or you're going to be spending a lot of time slicing things down."

He patted the sheet in front of him.

"Now, I want you all to grab a piece of paper and sketch out a possible casing for your battlebot. If you actually want to use it, I'd say keep it simple. If you don't, go wild. Then take the drawing apart. What kind of shapes are you going to need? Once you get that figured out, you can get to work sketching on the metal, slicing the shapes out, and welding them together."

"Now let me walk you through the machinery..."

Bay was a vision of total concentration as she started drafting the shapes for the bird casing she and Anakin had agreed on, trying to make the proportions right.

She was approaching it as a sculpture project, and she wasn't too displeased by the results so far.

How hard could it be to draw a giant metal nappy? With an extrusion port for bouncy gel?

...Ace would get back to you when she figured out how to make it fold around a battlebot's legs.

Where does the N7 hoodie come from?

(Yes, this is an important question. Hush.)

You get it as a downloadable piece of casual wear for Shepard if you're insane enough to have bought the Collector's Edition! (Which, of course, I am.)

...I totally didn't know that it was Collector's Edition-only. NOW I'M SAD NOT EVERYONE GETS IT BECAUSE IT'S TOTALLY THE BEST OUTFIT THERE IS. Way cuter than the ME2 casual wear, fo' sho'.
