Improving Your Skills [Friday, 3rd Period]

Today, the class was back in a regular classroom again, and Clint was playing with a stack of papers on his desk as he watched everyone trickle in.

"Hey guys. I know today's the last day before break, so you're all probably a little anxious to get out of here. Today's class will be fairly painless, I promise," he said. "Unless you're planning on buying yourself a tropical island and spending your days living off lottery winnings, you're probably going to have to find something to do for a living, and that means having to deal with people who are in positions of power over you. Even the shadiest non-standard jobs have hierarchies, and no matter what you do, there might come a time when your boss, or your boss's boss--" or the shadowy people who liked to try to tell your boss what to do, not that Clint was going to go there "--will ask you to do something you don't want to do. Now, I'm not talking about coming in on a Saturday when you already had plans. I mean something that goes against your morals, or your gut instinct, and you're going to have to decide whether to follow the rules, or tell your superiors to shove it and do what you think is right. Now, I am living proof that you can tell people to shove it and live to tell the tale. Maybe unpleasantly for a little while, but to me, it's always been worth it. You're going to have to decide if going against what's asked of you is worth it to you, and learn how to say no."

"I have a quiz for you guys--not a real one, more of a personal thing--and then tell me, in whatever you see yourself doing in the future, can you think of anything you might be asked to do that you won't want to do? And do you think you'll be able to make your opinion heard when the time comes?"

Being told that he looked weird was kind of the norm for Sparkle. Didn't stop him from spiking his hair or wearing makeup, did it?

He circled C, quite happily. Screw the haters.

Oh yeah. This one was an A, hands-down. Sparkle, taking well to authority?

... Well, certain authority, maybe.
myownface: (OhGod Seriously?)

It was the word 'arrest' that set Sparkle off on this one. He wrinkled his nose, definitely not a fan.

C. C was getting circled by virtue of the fact that 'fuck the police' was not actually an option.

Emily Thorne.

Emily tried not to smirk at some parts of it. She certainly wasn't goin to live off lotteries...in a way. The socialite life was by far a job per se. What could you say about philanthropists anyway? It was the perfect cover, but a actual job? Emily didn't have time for that.

Emily marked C, as she honestly didn't care what others thought.

As if Emily was ever going to follow orders she didn't particularly approve of. It was A all the way.

I would arrest him, but make a deal with him so we can work from the shadows to take out whoever wanted him out.

But seeing how that wasn't an option, Emily marked B.

Well that was a tricky question, since Emily was in her way to do a lot of things she normally wouldn't, and even if she felt she had a right to do so, she still had enough humanity to sometimes struggle with herself a bit. But there was a difference between what she was going to do and what she was going to pretend to do.

"I'm not sure if I'll ever have to deal with something that goes against my morals," said, and she wasn't lying so badly. "Rather than serious stuff, chances are they sometimes I'll have to suck it up and just do things that might bother me a bit?" And she could apply that to either making fundraisers and hacking into private accounts.

"Yeah, but aren't the little things almost as important as the big ones?" Kate asked. "Most people don't run into the huge moral decisions in their life, but little choices to do right or not make up our lives."
