Adventures in the basement..

After finishing her homework, and meeting with her new roommate, Duce decided to go on a gremlin hunt. She'd had a request to procure another gremlin, preferably a live one.

That could present a challenge. She wasn't used to keeping creatures alive. However, boredom reigned, and there was a possibility of earning some ready cash by selling the creatures as lab specimens.

She made a mental note of things she thought she'd need: fileting gloves, facemask, heavy canvas work overalls.. a trip to the local MegaMart would take care of most of that.

Duce had a vague thought of asking her new roommate along. Wednesday seemed like the type of girl who'd really appreciate a place like the basement. Perhaps there were others who'd like to go. Duce had heard about a group that wanted to go on a kill-hunt for the creatures, but killing things was so passe. No challenge to it, really. Catching them sounded like more fun.

Chihaya had decided that he would venture out to see what he was missing, all the other students at the dorms appeared to be having a grand time. Not being a drinker, or a smoker, sex at the moment completely beyond him, there wasn't really a lot for him to do or people for him to talk to.

Except Kiki, who was really nice to him at breakfast. He would go see her later and maybe she would like to go into fandomtownies and see what there was to do.

Brought up short by a girl with hair that ... holy cow...did some of her hair just wave at him?

Not so much feeling someone staring at her as feeling the snakes stare back, Duce turned with an aggrieved sigh. Eyeing up the.. boy? girl? .. androdyne, she nodded casually at the hair, "Nice colour for it."

His hand subconsciously went to his hair and he grinned. "Uh...thanks?" Chihaya took a tentative step forward, his gaze flicking every so often to her ... hair...noooooo...snakes?. "I would be lame and say 'new around here' but since I wouldn't know because I don't get out much I'll say...uh...'Hi!'"

Duce smiles somewhat wryly, "Actually, we are new here. We just registered yesterday, and today's our first day of classes. So far, so good. We haven't been bitten, mauled, molested, kidnapped, drugged, or set on fire yet, but hey, the day's still young." Catching the.. boy? Yes, probably a boy..'s glances at her hair, Duce sighs slightly and says patiently, "Yes, they're real, and yes, they're poisonous. Don't worry, though. We only bite when provoked."

Nodding pleasantly, and hoping to finally define the gender of the other party, Duce says helpfully, "Our name's Medusa. Most people call us Duce. What's there to do around here? Besides taunt drunk people and avoid being plagued by monsters, we mean."
