Flight- Monday- 3rd period

The students were in the Danger Shop again today, and anyone who wondered what they were doing today got their answer in the form of the helicopter on the landing pad behind Jaina.

"No weapons again today. You're all gonna have to suck that up," Jaina said, but she smiled a little when she said that. "This, for those of you who don't know, is a helicopter. From this planet, and they fly very differently than planes. For one thing, it gets vertical lift, which means you can go from a standing position and go straight up, or you can hover in place, rather than needing to gain momentum. It also handles entirely differently."

Because of that, she gave them a little primer on how to actually work the controls, and said, "So you've got two options. If you're not entirely sure about this thing, you can take it up and fly around at your leisure. Try not to fly into any buildings. For those of you looking for a bit more of a challenge, there's going to be a car chase going on in the streets behind me. You're going to take this thing up and follow it around, through all its crazy twists and turns, as much as you can. If there aren't any questions, who wants to go first?"

Cade made this as easy on himself as possible: he went up, he came back down, his head didn't explode and neither did the helicopter. Yay, team Cade.

Anakin had not hidden in his room all weekend once he'd figured out what was going on with the island. He might have used it as justification to stay in and work on some projects, though. Ahem.

That probably explained how he was so stir-crazy that he immediately took the helicopter through the police chase.

He emerged unscathed. The helicopter and some of the buildings might be just a tiny bit less lucky.

There was no way Karina was engaging in anything like a police chase today. So when it was her turn, she took the helicopter up and put it through some deliberately simple flying.

It was just enough to get an idea of how her notes compared to the real thing and then she went back down with a bit of a sigh. Maybe she could do this again when she was less tired? But at least nothing had gone wrong.

Victor was not missing the police chase; he figured if he was ever going back to L.A. (and Chase was ever willing to hand over the 'Frog again), he'd end up in this kind of situation sooner or later.

He'd played helicopter simulation games before, so -- other than a few close calls with buildings he swore came out of nowhere -- he and the helicopter made it through the exercise successfully.

Emily took the police chase, because why not?

She ended up crashing against a building, sure, but it had been fun.

Of COURSE Bucky was going to follow the police chase. He had visions of leaping out of the helicopter onto the lead police car and then making it wreck in such a way that all the other cars crashed into it and the criminals got away.

Not that you'd know that. It took less than a minute for him to drop on the edge of the landing pad, tip over sideways, and embed the rotor in the ground.

"This $*&@ thing is busted!!!" he complained loudly. "You gave me the busted one!"
