fandomhigh | Political Campaigning (Tuesday, February 14, 4th period)

Josh was reading the newspaper and snickering when the political campaigning class came into the room. "Hunting accident? How dumb are you?" he asked the picture of the Vice President.

He finally shifted his attention to the class. "Today we talk some more about research. Your assignments about three things your candidate has done that makes him the best Senator or future Senator in the history of whenever are due Thursday, which I'm sure you all are working frantically on. And, um, Donna" he pointed at Jake, "How many days until the election?"

He looked back down at his notes. "Now we talk opposition research. This is looking into your opponents, but if you don't take this kind of intensive look at your own candidate you will be completely screwed later on. You have to know your own skeletons or else you'll spend all of your time playing defense to your opponents attacks and will shift off of your own message."

He passed out a handout. "Here's a list of some fairly general research topics and the attacks that could be generated from them. Find three that you think could work as attack possibilities for your own campaign, and three that your opponents might use against you. This assignment is due next Tuesday. One list per group."

He waved his hand. "You know the drill by now. Break into groups and bitch about your candidates."

"Um," Angel frowned, worried. "Was that on purpose or were you hit with some kind of mouse spell?"

Alanna's bag moved at the word 'mouse'. Alanna whimpered. "Wedding presentation."

"You're getting married??"

Teddy the Bear took his first flight. At Angel's head. "Class presentation."

Angel tried to duck. He was still sleepy from first period. He got a bear to the forehead. "People get married on Valentine's! It happens!"

Alanna made a beconing motion to Teddy and he flew back into her arms. "Guh!"

"The bear flies?"

Alanna pointed at her bag. It flew a foot into the air. She pointed down, it flew down. She pointed at Angel's chair. It began to rise into the air. She glared at Angel. "Still Gifted."

"I didn't know telekinesis was a part of it!" Angel pouted. "Still. Neat."

Alanna lowered Angel's chair to the floor. "Telekinesis, object transportation, object changing/shifting, healing, fire throwing, protection spells, and a bit of thread magic. That's what I'm good at, but I'm not a fully trained Sorcerer, that's the twin. He basically does whatever he wants." She is very, very happy to be given an excuse to not think about what's happening after lunch.

"Sewing's a part of it?"

Alanna fished around in her pocket for a spare piece of thread. Finding it, she quickly made a loop and tightened into a knot.

"Kay, so does that do something?" Angel asked. He moved to take the knot so that he could look at it.

Small problem. His arms wouldn't move. "Um."

Alanna smirked and raised. "Sewing?"

"You said thread!"

Alanna briskly undid the cord. "Thread magic is powerful. Honestly, part of the spell that Bel used to swap bodies with you was based off of thread magic." She admitted, putting the cord away into her pocket. "Like I said, magic's not my thing. Or at least, not my main thing."

Angel stretched his arms out, relieved that he could move them again. "Oh. Okay. See, now I know."

Alanna snuggled Teddy. "Is this day over yet?" She blinked. "Are we supposed to be doing something?"

"Working on the campaign stuff," Angel said. "But if you wanna slack off, I understand. I wasn't exactly helpful last week."

"Is 'contimplating various ways to not go to Sociology today' considered slacking off?"

"Not to me," Angel assured her.
