The Danger Shop was once again a lacrosse field, with empty stands on both sides. And Jackson was standing in the middle of it, in full lacrosse gear. Except for the helmet, which he was holding by his side. There was also a bunch of gear in a pile behind him.

Once it looked like everyone had shown up who was going to, he started to talk. "On the off chance that you don't know, I'm Jackson Whittemore, former captain of the Beacon Hills High lacrosse team which is currently heading for another state championship." And he was proud of that, even if he didn't really play for them anymore. "And this is the Fandom High Lacrosse Club." A slightly less proud moment for him, but whatever. "We're gonna start easy. Most of you know each other, but we'll still have a round of introductions. State your name, your year, and your level of familiarity with the great sport that is lacrosse. Or if you were already here last year, something you learned about lacrosse in the fall."

Simple, right? He nodded back towards the sticks and the balls behind him. "Afterwards, we'll keep it easy and you can just get warmed up by practicing passes. But first, introductions." He pointed at a random club member. "You. Start."

[Again, didn't sign up? No problem. Either handwave or just show up randomly! This is the one time in all of creation where Jackson just accepts people into his life.]

"Korra, junior, I started last semester, and I've learnt that lacrosse players tend to be grumpy."

No, Korra, that was just Jackson.

Jackson didn't look too taken with this answer. (You could have even said he looked a little bit grumpy! Yes.)

"I have no idea what you're talking about." NO IDEA. "Is that all?"

Korra grinned. Innocently. "And I picked up how to play the game, it's less complicated than Pro-Bending."

Of course she'd had to pick up more than a few of the rules of that while playing.

"If you say so."

Jackson wasn't going to believe Pro-Bending was superior to lacrosse in any way until he actually saw it played. At which point he was probably going to cry over never being able to play it.

"Ace! Junior. Here last year." Things she'd learned. Um. "Never pass to Greenberg?"

Jackson was going to allow that.

"Less of a problem here ––" Except when/if he programmed Greenberg into the simulations. "–– but sure."

Ace shrugged. "There's always a Greenberg. By any other name..."

She would not speculate on who might be the Greenberg of Fandom's team.

Out loud.

"Kate Bishop, junior," she said. "And I've seen lacrosse played before."

"It's a start." Jackson had learned he couldn't be too picky with his players here a while ago. She'd seen it played, and she knew field hockey. She was good to go. "Welcome to the team, Kate."

For a given value of 'team'.

"Thanks," Kate replied with a bit of a smirk. "I'm looking forward to it."

"I'm Stiles, and I'm a junior," Stiles said. "And last fall I learned that lacrosse teams really benefit from having co-captains. We should give Scott a call."

Stiles, don't taunt the evil lizard boy.

Jackson was rolling his eyes so hard at that. "Funny," he said, with the exact opposite meaning. "But if you'd like to swap places with him, at least we'd have someone with something to show for his years of coming to practice."

Even if it was through being a cheater of a werewolf.

"I'm here to be eye candy, Jackson, clearly." Eye candy that never took his shirt off.

Snort. "Really?"

Everyone else here was hotter than you, Stiles! That was just the natural order of things!

"Excuse you, I am plenty attractive." Just not as attractive as everyone else in town. "I will call Danny and ask him if I'm attractive right now, I swear."

Let's be real, Stiles probably did that weekly anyway.

"Mercy, junior, and I was here last time. Um... you should make sure you're alert on the field so you're ready for anything."

"Even Greenberg screwing everything up," Jackson nodded. "Good. Welcome back."

"I am Loki of Asgard, a sophomore by the estimation of this school and I quite enjoy lacrosse." A beat. "Especially hitting people with a stick."

Loki, did you understand just how badly Jackson had wished you wouldn't show up? Did you?

Jackson's jaw looked pretty damn tight, was what the narrative was saying.

"Of course."

LOVE HIM, JACKSON. JUST LOVE HIM.

"Hello again, dearest Jackson."

There weren't even any words to respond to that with.

Just glowering.

"Do you not wish to say hello to me as well?" Loki asked, completely undeterred.

Someone had made a rather thorough study of the rules, yes.

Way to actually impress Jackson, Ulrik! Have a gold star.

Or at least an approving nod from Jackson. "Very good. Nice to know someone's been making an effort, welcome back."
