Jono had been a little out of the loop this week, so hopefully everyone would forgive him for looking just a touch bewildered as he took in the various greyscale faces around his classroom.

"Fandom," he muttered under his breath before shaking his head and pressing on with his lecture. He was going to make it happen, whether his students looked like they were ready for a sock hop or not. "I'd like to start today's class off by apologizing for my behaviour last week. As I... hope some of you are aware, it wasn't exactly a good week for me."

What with all of the being on fire and whatnot.

"To put it bluntly, I was a fatalistic, pessimistic, antisocial idiot. And while I can't entirely attest to how many of those factors have changed, I can tell you that cutting yourself off from life as thoroughly as I did out of some kind of bitter vendetta against my own sodding self is... bloody stupid. Which isn't to say that you ought to start clasping hands with every stranger you meet and offering them kisses in th'street or anything."

The hippie movement was a decade coming for most of his students, after all.

"Just... exercise caution with who you choose to trust, how thoroughly, and why. Falling in with the first person to take an interest in you might lead to some good times in the immediate future, but how well do you know that person, really? Or their motives? Being used and thrown out again hurts a hell of a lot more than hanging back and not letting it happen, but that's a revelation you won't have until after you're standing alone in the middle of a dark alleyway, what's left of your reputation a joke smeared through tabloids all across Britian, suddenly homeless and watching Sugar naffin' Kane drive off in her fancy car after informing you that you were the hideous mutant curiosity that helped her boost her failing career."

That was not an oddly specific example. Shut up.

"I... don't actually have horrible experiences with every person I meet," he added, just a touch awkwardly, as he realized he'd been ranting. "But I'll be saving my carpe diem lecture for next week. This week... maybe just... talk about that one time that someone failed to exercise caution when they should have." He gave the students in his room a critical sort of glance. "Or pass love notes, or whatever it is you're prone to doing under this particular weirdness."

Possibly less coffee than usual this week, because Jono decided he needed more for himself after looking at the lot of you.

Issues! Completely non-specific issues!

Yeul was torn between being concerned for Professor Starsmore and his ranting and watching her greyscale classmates with a quiet sort of amusement.

Rapunzel passed a note. Not a love note, though, just a normal note.

You're not grey!

And if handwriting could convey a sense of relief, this particular bit did. Rapunzel did not think she was a fan of all the grey.

I am not! Which Yeul was rather glad for despite finding it vaguely entertaining. Neither are you, which is nice. Do you think it will go away by itself?

The note, which was still not a love note, was passed back to Rapunzel.

Probably a good thing, that last bit. Though Rapunzel probably wouldn't have been able to tell, anyway.

I hope so Rapunzel paused for a moment before punctuating that with a little frowny face. I don't really like when people... change. Not like that, at least.

... whatever, man. Whatever. Victor got bored about five minutes in and started writing a manifesto in his notebook.

Mercy spent a fair amount of the lecture mooning after the bad boy, Cade, while idly twirling her ponytail.

That one time that someone should have exercised caution!

Or that one time you let the greasy jock take you to the dance. Or... whatever you think is relevant at the moment.

"I cannot think of times when someone else should have exercised caution," Yeul said honestly, shrugging slightly. She didn't really have much experience with other people! "There are times that I have been told I should have, however I am uncertain if that is... topical."

"What about with other people?" Jono offered Yeul a small, encouraging smile. It was good to see at least one of his students in her right mind, today. "Perhaps somebody Caius warned you to steer clear of, even? I know you don't have much experience with people besides him, luv."

"Caius does not tell me who to engage with," Yeul said, tilting her head. "If I truly wish to talk to someone, I will, and he will permit it."

Gritting his teeth the entire way, no doubt, but that was Caius' problem.

Though she did not make it a problem of his that often it should be noted.

"Most of the time, I am content with just the two of us." Yeul frowned very slightly. "It is less likely to cause the problems you mention in regards to caution."

When they tag in!

Yes, Surreal was here, kittens. But somehow she was even less interested in the 'peace and love and conformity' lecture than usual.

Swell. Cade gave her a disaffected grin.

Surreal rolled her eyes and spun her finger in the 'whoo hoo' motion. Because this was absolutely the hippest class ever.

Not.

But she'd smirk back at Cade, because he was totally digging her vibe.

"Big Daddy must be writing a book," Cade said with a little eyeroll of his own.
