Yakko's World, Thursday, Period 2

"I know what you're thinking," Yakko said. Don't worry, he wasn't suddenly psychic. "You're thinking, 'Yakko? I understand why you'd try to take credit for the Earth, video games, and the entire world of the imagination, but aren't there any other real worlds you'd like to claim as yours for the purposes of your class?'"

"Well, I've only got one thing to say to that: that was a very long and coherent thought. I'm impressed."

"Okay, two things! Let's talk about Mars."

"Mars is the next planet down the line in our solar system and they'd be our favorite interstellar neighbors if we knew that anyone actually lived there. As far as we know, it's the big, red, creepy abandoned house that somebody told you a hermit lives in, or five people died there, each one ten years apart from each other and now it's haunted. Only instead of stories about ghosts haunting us, we tell stories about aliens visiting us. Depending who you talk to, Martians kidnap our farmers, take the blood of our cows, built our pyramids, seeded all life on earth, or don't exist at all. Can we ever know for sure?"

"Not really," Yakko answered. "Not unless we have a space-faring time machine, which we do not have." Ahem. "But what we do have are robots and rockets, so we've been able to send those over to take pictures until they die or get converted by the secret Martians into weapons against those of us from Earth."

"And is that definitely going to happen?"

"Yes. Yes, it is. But here's hoping we have a long time until Mars attacks."

"If you ignore the 90s. Or the graduation of the class of 2007."

"Here!" Yakko said, grabbing a box and dumping it out on his desk. "Remote control cars. Take them around and pretend to be controlling a Mars rover as you walk into anywhere you want. It'll be fun!"

Grump. "Why don't we have a space-faring time machine? That'd be brilliant!" Ahem.

Grumpity grump. Which was going to last about thirty seconds, aka until she got a remote control in her hands.
