"Hello, class. Welcome, and please turn in your essays from last class on your reactions to playing the games provided to you."

Grissom then lectures briefly on The St. Valentine Day's Massacre and then dismisses class.

"On your way out, please take this reading, Chapter Nine of Flash Point: The American Mass Murderer by Michael D. Kelleher, and complete it by Wednesday."

Sociology of the Paranormal

After greeting the class, Grissom gives a lecture and smiles, sitting half on his desk.

"So, easy discussion today. Do you believe in miracles?"

"Also, easy homework. I want you to do your own research into the phenomena, and see if anything changes your mind."

Grissom is struggling desperately with the cutest puppy in the history of puppies rather comically in his office, trying to stop her from barking, and also trying to figure out where he is going to hide her for the night.

Why didn't he find a puppy-sitter before?

This was a very, very bad idea.

So come play with the adorable puppy, unless you are Sara, and then she'll be hidden in a very stealthy ~~goofy, transparent~~ manner so Sara can't find her. Ha, ha ha.

Krycek stopped by, looking a little bemused - both at the reason he was there and the barking puppy. "Sir? I was absent from the last class ~~because the mun was off her head and completely managed to miss it somehow~~, but is there something I could do to make up the credit?"

Grissom looks a little too flustered to work up any concern over a student missing a class ~~and I barely get the classes up lately with my RL workload, so whatever.~~

"Umm, make-up work. Sure. Okay."

He's the helpful sort, that Grissom is. Meanwhile, the puppy bounds over to Krycek and gives him a really cute look.

Jake is here, and he doesn't believe in miracles, nope.

Angela is glowingly happy today, is therefore listening with only half an ear, and would probably say she believed in fairies ~~not that kind~~ if Grissom asked, so she nods.

"Puppy!," Angela squeaks. "Is she yours, Dr. Grissom?"

Grissom looks a little confused by Angela's good cheer, but then again, she is a teenaged girl, and he kind of thinks of them as alien life forms anyway.

"Sort of. She'll be Sara's, umm, Ms. Sidle's, tomorrow. But she doesn't know that yet. Sara, I mean. Not that the puppy knows either. Dogs aren't really capable of that level of cognizant...

How can I help you, Angela?"

Meanwhile the puppy makes little jumping moves at Angela's feet.

Angela blinked. "Huh? Oh. I, um, don't need help. I just saw you with the puppy ~~and hopefully this didn't require x-ray vision~~ and wanted to say hi. She's cute."

She is not asking about the fact he seems to be dating Ms. Sidle, because she really doesn't need to know that much about her teacher's actual lives.

"You can, you know, pet her, if you'd like. She's very friendly," he says with just a hint of disdain in his voice.

The puppy also seems to think that some playtime with Angela is an excellent idea, and yips in agreement.

Lana signs in. She's not sure if she believes in miracles or not, but she's certainly open to the possibility.

Angela picked up on the tone, and her eyes flashed a bit of hurt. "Okay," she said, bending down to pat the puppy anyhow. "Are you going to let Ms. Sidle name her, or did she come with a name?"

Krycek eyed the puppy and crouched down to scritch him a bit, glancing up at Grissom. "Something wrong, sir?"

Grissom only then realizes he should make sure his disdain is obviously for the dog's hyperactivity, and not Angela, or any one else who just happens to breathe in his presence when he's grumpy.

"No, no name yet. She was rescued by one of my colleagues in Washington, after someone abandoned her mother and the entire litter in a park. After a few weeks of cajoling I agreed to take her once she was six weeks old, and the timing just... worked out. I thought Ms. Sidle could name her."

"Any suggestions I should pass along?" Grissom says with a small smile, trying to keep his tone warm, as the puppy snuggles up to Angela as much as possible.

"No, no. I just don't remember dogs being quite this..." he waves a hand at the dog, who is enthusiastically responding to Krycek. "Exciteable. I had a dog when I was a kid, and it was, calmer, I guess.

So, yes, why don't you ~~handwave~~ make up the lab time ~~playing video games~~, and we'll considered the absence excused."

Walter signs in ~~sans song~~. He's not sure that he believes in miracles, but he's not ready to rule anything out these days.

Krycek smirked, though somewhat sympathetically, and continued playing with the puppy as he responded. "You were probably a bit more proportionately exciteable. You're perspective's changed as well. Or--" He tsked and pulled fingers from the puppy's mouth as he was enthusiastically used as a chew toy. "You had an older dog, which would probably be less energetic than a puppy."

Krycek stopped and made a face, wondering why he suddenly felt the need to be all explainy for no good reason. "Thanks, sir. I appreciate the reprieve."

Shep signs in. He isn't sure about the whole miracles thing. Miracles as in divinely contrived good luck? Nah, he didn't have any great faith in a higher being that was interested in controlling the day to day activities of a single individule.

He did believe in cosmic good luck and good timing. He knew that that sort of thing had saved his bacon more than once on Atlantis.

Grissom refrains from rolling his eyes at the notion that he was an excitable kid, but he does smirk a little.

"You've done good work in this class so far. And considering the environment in Fandom, I allow for a few absences," Grissom says with a knowing look. "I appreciate you coming by to clear it up though. The lab is open all day during school hours, so try to sneak in there during a free period before Wednesday. The equipment is still accessible. Any other issues?"

Lana slips him a note.

Hey... you okay with this whole wedding-y thing tomorrow? And can I talk you into taking me to the Valentine's Dance on Friday? :)

There's a Valentine's dance on Friday?

He's really not playing dumb this time.
