"I am merely high on life, Miss Parker," Angela replied teasingly. "Aren't you ever just in a good mood?"

"Yessss," Parker says, her smile slowly starting to grow. "And usually? It's after an evening with Jack." She grinned. "Now, I know you weren't with him, so...."

Angela throws up her hands, smile getting bigger. "Noooo, not with him. Or Broots."

Parker's grin got bigger. "Marty stepped up? You worked it out? Congrats! That's great!" She sobered a little. "You're not worried about his issues any more? You guys talked about it?"

"Kind of," Angela admitted, sobering a little. "I mean, he told me he wouldn't try to be a hero without a good reason, without my asking. It sounded like he's feeling more serious in general, which is good."

Angela hadn't seen the bunny email yet.

"I talked to Geoff Chaucer, and he basically said that he thought maybe we both needed to give each other more space. So, I'll try that. Let him have his Thing and I can have my stuff, and we'll ... we'll make it work. I hope."

"That *is* good," Parker admitted. "And yeah, maybe that's all you need is enough space to be yourselves. I promise, I won't do anything that'll make it harder on you in the future. I'm just glad you guys are trying again. Weird as that may sound." She shrugged diffidently. "You were happier with him."

"I was," Angela agreed. "And ... I dunno, maybe the third time will stick. And if it doesn't, at least we can say we tried."

"He said he wasn't going to torment you, either. I guess he really dislikes mariachi music."

"Hope springs eternal." Parker smiled. "And yay. I think we're both exhausted. And those mariachis don't come cheap, let me tell you."

Angela nodded in relief. "So is Esme un-traumatized, or does she need to go to a pet therapist?"

"I think she had fun," Parker said in disgust. "Jarod was feeding her too much, I could tell. And she was probably playing with his kitten half the time, from what he said. If I'd had pictures of something like that at the beginning of the week, I wouldn't have been worried."

Angela bit back a laugh. "True. Plus, bunny/kitty playtime sounds like the cutest thing ever. Like, cuter than Vladdie and Sean. He should have taken photos just for that."

"His kitten is irrevocably cute anyway, so yeah. I wish he had. Hmm." She narrowed her eyes. "I can't remember if he has a camera. I'll have to get him one for his next birthday."
