Living on the Outskirts, Friday, Period 2

Jono looked a bit like Hell warmed over this morning when he came into class. Most days, he was capable of at least putting on a decent front about it, but he hadn't managed to sleep last night for nightmares that were a fair bit worse than usual, and this morning he looked a little bit as though he'd been run over by a bus in the dead of night. But so help him, he was here and he had a DVD in hand, so that was good, right?

"Movie day," he announced. "I tried to at least keep it topical, though. A bit of scrounging," about three seconds in the library, groping at the video selection there, "turned up a documentary about the formation of one of the strongest superhero teams from my world, so you're going to watch that, and I'm going to be over at my desk with my head down. Won't that be fun?"

He popped in the DVD, went back to his desk, and hit the appropriate buttons on the remote. When the sounds coming from the television weren't quite right, he did look up for a moment, a mildly disgruntled look on his face, but he let it play. It wasn't wildly off-topic for the class itself, so bears that cared were going to get a free pass today. Screw it.

... seriously?

Victor watched the cartoon bears frolic for a minute to wait for the punchline, then -- when there wasn't one -- not-so-covertly took out his phone and began dedicating most of his attention to protecting plants from the zombie menace. He still had a few achievements to unlock.

Yeul was cognizant of the fact that this movie was likely for those much younger than they were but it was cute and the songs were sweet so she found it rather enjoyable all the same.

You know what? Stephanie was going to use the prospect of another movie day to take a nap, but she got kind of into it. Because cartoon bears.

What? She'd been a little cartoon-deprived as a kid.

Arietty was fascinated. She had no idea that Jonothan's world had a really strong superhero team made up of brightly colored bears who lived on clouds.

Goose didn't have access to cartoons growing up in Wolf Den, that was why he was more interesed in the film than he liked to have admitted.

Right, this was stupid. Surreal stayed just long enough to understand what the bears were saying, and then skipped out.
