Creature Languages, 02/13, Period 3

Dream is not in the classroom today, but a raven with shiny eyes is perched on his desk, as if to oversee the students in his absence. In addition, there's small sack of heart-shaped cinnamon candies on each desk. The instructions written on the bulletin board read,

"Sign in and complete a quiz. You may then leave.

Matthew will contact me should there be problems, or I will be in my office later today."

[OOC: The quiz is taking one of the nursery rhyme translations completed on Thursday and putting it back into English, then listening to and transcribing a brief dialogue in Rat. Tell me what grade you got.]

Jake takes the quiz. He gets a B+ as he fudges the translations a bit. There's a nice sketch of the Raven having a conversation with a rat at the bottom of the sheet though.

Matthew wonders why a raven would waste time talking to a rat when they're so tasty as food, but he does see that the kid has done a nice job drawing him.

Paige takes the quiz and gets a B, the nursery rhyme piece goes very well, the Rat goes a little worse as the accent is difficult to understand and she's likely to have got some words that sound similar mixed up.

Walter gets a B+. He's been studying and the nursery rhyme is a snap, but Rat is definitely never going to be one of his better languages.

Pippi translates a rhyme from spider and does okay, she continues to use the same "flair" she used in translating into dragon. Possibly it has something to do with the fact that it's poetry.

The section on rat however she does very well with.

Zero takes the quiz and gets an A. She's actually quite good at this, which is a good quality in the TA.

Xander... wonders if somebody got his nursery rhyme to translate back into English, because if so...whooboy. He recognised even when he was writing it that it was on some serious crack.

He does pretty well with both the nursery rhyme and the Rat, since he's actually paying attention to it today, mostly to avoid thinking about anything else. A-.

Though he does translate Brebis du Lavort as "Washing the breasts" which a) gives an entirely new meaning to the 'nibbling' portion of the rat conversation, and b) is really sad since he also allegedly speaks French.

Victor felt a lot more confident this time around, and managed to pull off an A-. The nursery rhyme was in spider, which was his worst language of the three, so he accidently mangled a word or two.

Sakura takes the quiz with a small amount of difficulty -- too many changes in the language of the rhyme were starting to make it not make much sense -- but sitll manages to pass. She gets a B-.

Stark's translation is kind of off and may not make much sense, but he does well on the Rat dialogue. B+
