Combat- Tuesday- 2nd period- Class #5

The class was back in the dorms gym again, without any of the Danger Shop fun. "I figured this week we'd return to hand-to-hand sparring," Jaina began. "It's probably the most versatile thing you're going to learn, and I don't want you to get bored doing weapons every week. Pick someone in your group to spar against, and if you feel like you need to adjust where you put yourself, go ahead and do it.

"Also, it's Parents Weekend this week," she said. "Which means if you want to try and warn me against telling people things, now's the time to try it."

Cade could stand to punch something, sure.

"My uncle's gonna have a stroke," Cade announced.

"And why's that?" she asked.

She guessed it fell under 'all these people from our galaxy' but she didn't want to assume.

Korra, advanced

"Well for one I'm pretty sure he's heard of you," Cade said.

Possibly by having spent holidays together...

She frowned a bit, finally asking, "When are you from?"

If someone heard of her in her time, that wasn't a big shock. That happened. But if he was down the line somewhere and he'd heard of her, that would just be weird.

"A little bit further down the line," he said vaguely. "Uncle Bantha's old, though."

Uncle Bantha could still kick Cade's ass.

"You have an uncle named Bantha?" She judged you, Cade's grandfather. She judged you.

Jessica Drew, advanced

Alec Lightwood, advanced

Shane Gooseman, advanced

Mercy Thompson, intermediate

Cade nodded. "Yeah. Bantha Rawk."

Totally not an alias. Really.

Still judging.

"I can promise I won't make this harder on him if I happen to see him," Jaina said. And she'd pretend not to be weirded out that people down the line still knew of her. "Or I can try, at least."

"Oh, I don't really care that much if it's hard on him," Cade said. "Just wanted to give you a heads up if he's staring a lot."

"Oh. So prepare for staring and hopefully not a stroke," she said. "Got it."

Cade nodded. "And tell him that I'm an attentive student who's eager to learn. It'll confuse the kark out of him."

"We'll see about that," she said.

She'd so do it. It could be like a possible tension-reliever!

Cade grinned at her. "Might make the weekend bearable."

"Are you not expecting a good time?" she wondered, more curious as to how things might go rather than prying into a student's personal life.

Surreal, advanced.

Surreal just leaned against the wall and waited, perfectly willing to pound someone into the mat.

Had to get her sparring in, after all, in case Sadi made a pain of himself and showed up. Again.

Cade shrugged. "He sent me here because he didn't want me with him."

"But he's coming to visit," she said.

"Probably to be sure I'm not in prison," Cade replied.

"I think that's secretly the reason everyone checks up on younger relatives," Jaina told him. "Maybe that's just my family."

Shira, intermediate

Billy Kaplan, beginner.

Daenerys Targaryen, beginner

Cade snorted before he could stop himself. "Mine does it too."

Cough.

"Then if I can give some completely unsolicited advice, don't think about why he's here and it'll be a lot easier to enjoy your weekend," she told him.

"Can I just ditch him somewhere?" Cade asked.

"Sure. But the you have no idea what or who he's going to run into," she said honestly.

"Caritas will still be open, right?" Cade checked.

Cade made amazing life choices.

Sigh. "Probably. Along with the gym and salle."

See, here she was, trying to give healthy alternatives...

"I don't do the sword things," Cade said firmly.

"Then skip the salle. And I apologize now for some of the class topics." Since she had a class full of sword-wielders and all.

"More lightsabers?" Cade tried not to sound as wary as he felt.

Jaina shook her head. "We might have the option to go back to it later if people want to, but we're going to try metal blades," she said, watching him. "Were they a problem?"

"There aren't Jedi at home," Cade said with a shrug. "Seemed kinda gruesome to use their weapon."

Well... that was depressing. It was one of those things she wanted to ask about, and then reminded herself that she did enough of that to herself and leave it alone.

"Well, if we do it again and you're still against doing it, just let me know. I won't make you," she told him. Traumatizing people who signed up as a job so they'd get better was one thing, but she didn't want to make people uncomfortable for a grade.

Cade's lips quirked up. "Appreciate it."
