Student Council meeting (lunch)

Josh had his feet up on his desk when the Student Council came into the classroom.

"Okay. We're a go for the Valentine's Day dance next Friday. We need to work out logistics: what time, who's doing publicity, who's doing music, who that's not me who will be putting up the dance entry, all that good stuff." He pointed at Callisto. "As our benevolent Dictator-in-Chief, do you want to either head this up or appoint staffers to do the work for you?"

He looked down at list of notes he had taken last meeting. "Okay. I also need you all to give me a final yes or no on a Spring Break trip to be held from March 3-8, heading to England and Calais, so I can take it to people who are actually in charge around here and get approval for the idea."

He smiled at Isabel. "I saw the posters up for the Game Night. Good job. As Student Council reps, it'd be a good--I'd say almost compulsory--idea to at least swing by the Game Night at some point during the evening."

He waved his hand lazily. "Anything else?"

"I think the zombies should be given an equal chance for employment." Blair stated. "Also, we need to decide about food and whether or not it's formal and get chaperones and stuff."

"Zombies eat people." Alanna helpfully pointed out. "What about one of the guest bands we've had before?"

"Think we could get them? I mean, four days is kind of short notice to get a band. I mean, I'm totally up for a guest band, but I was thinking we couldn't get one so quickly. But the only guest band I've ever seen was the band we had for the "Welcome New Students" thing."

"The Dusted Bunnies are usually booked months in advance; and I don't believe Zero Hopeless-Savage would be amenable to a return engagement on such short notice." Parker paused. "That said, I'll ask her anyway. But a DJ would probably be less expensive and more reliable in any event, not to mention easier to find."

"Would a DJ be cheaper than the zombie band? Is there like a bid process for this sort of thing?"

"Yes. By probably only a quarter to half as much." Parker tilted her head. "We hired a guy named DJ Echelon for Homecoming, and I know that the last owner of the record store used to DJ as well. He's gone now, though." Parker coughed. "And I don't know how DJ Echelon was hired; I think he was a friend of the last Principal's." She bit her lip. "Maybe the new record store owner would know, or would be willing to find us a DJ."

"I think a DJ would be a nice change up." said Pippi, who wasn't sure what a DJ was but it sounded fun.

"Either him or the current Principal," Peter said. "He keeps going on about rock. Maybe he'd know somebody. Like, perhaps another Jack Black character. From a Cusack movie, maybe. We might have to talk to the Principal."

"Besides, they know every song in the multi-verse. How could they not be a hit? As for dress... well, I'm for formal, myself. Everyone should look their best on Valentine's."

He leaned over and whispered to Blair. "Hey, got a date for the dance yet?"

Blair bounced and whispered back. "Not yet, but I've got a plan!" He flashed his notebook to Pip briefly showing lists, bullet points and a few diagrams. "How bout you?"

"Thinking about Maia," Pip whispered back. "Might be too soon after Chiana left to ask her to something like this, though." He looks over Blair's lists and bullet points. "Want some advice from the master?"

"Sure, I'd love advice! If you see him let him know I'm looking for him." Blair grinned and bounced a little.

Pip eyed Blair and grinned. "Alright smartass, meet me in my room after classes. I'll give you some pointers."

"Pointers like 'don't give girls shoe trees' or pointers like 'this is a lame pick up line so I can make you kiss me' thing? Because right now I'm keeping the experiment heterosexual." Blair bounced excitedly and flipped to another section in his notebook. "But I could put your name down for when I explore same sex relationships!"

Pip's eye widened. "No no no. I'm strictly hetero. But it's admirable that you're willing to experiment. I mean if you want some dating tips for asking out girls. Which... if I'm following you right, means I'm giving you the "don't give girls shoe trees" type of pointers."

"I hear that, man. Okay shoe-tree-pointers with you later. I'm good whenever. I don't have classes on Friday, just work tonight."
