It was the start of a new school year. If Tyrion were at all melancholy at the passage of time, it was strongly overlaid by his excitement at new students, new books, new ideas to impart …

New teaching partner.

"Hello," he said, once everyone seemed to be in place. He was sitting on the desk again; otherwise, the contrast between his height and Ghanima's felt comic. "I'm Tyrion Lannister and this is Ghanima Atreides. Welcome to A Tale of Two Lions. If you are ruthless, power-hungry, and generally desperate to be allowed to tell other people what to do … you may actually be in the right place."

"Or, rather, not desperate to tell people what to do, you just do it anyway," Ghanima teased gently. "Whether you feel you are meant for power, or other people are telling you that you are, we're here to make sure you not only survive it, but that you rule. Not your advisers, not your counsel, but you."

"And with any luck," Tyrion added, "you'll do it with some mercy for those who must bow the knee to you. But this class is about what happens, and what you must do, before you can take any power. So we all know each other better, we'd like you to discuss today where power comes from in your homelands."

"So tell us where you come from, why you have come from there, and how power is invested and transferred," Ghanima stated. "Are you kings, queens, titans of industry or from a clan of ruling sages? What is the power that you hope to wield, and how is it traditionally taken?"

Yeul was... so not the right person for this sort of class. Ruthless, power-hungry?

She glanced side-long at her classmates through lowered eyelashes. Was everyone in her class like that? Or were there others who were here on accident, like she was?

From the look on Cassidy's face as she listened, this was probably a surprise class for her, as well.

She found the look, once she noticed it, to be comforting. That expression could only mean one thing, right? Unsure if it was allowed but hoping that if it was kept quiet enough it would pass, Yeul leaned over to ask the other girl a question.

"Were you placed in this class by error as well?" Yeul murmured softly.

Cassidy nodded. "I believe so. I usually sign up for all of Lady Ghanima's classes, but this one is a surprise to me."

"Might I ask what she normally teaches?" Something that was less about power? "My apologies, but I'm new and have no prior knowledge to fall back on."

"Oh, she teaches so many fascinating things. She teaches a course about tactics and terrain and one about rulers that were thought to be mad or were mad through history and how to avoid being corrupted by powers. She's a very nice and knowledgeable lady and I trust her." She smiled. "My name is Cassidy and this my third year here in Fandom. It's been a nice place and I've learned a lot."

"I am Yeul." She smiled back, feeling a bit reassured. That Lady Ghanima taught all of those things made her seem less intimidating than if she'd taught solely about the ways to grasp power.

"Three years is an impressive span of time. That means you have only another year left, if I remember the school system right?" Yeul would be the first to admit that she might be wrong. All of this was new to her.

"It is nice to meet you, Yeul. This place can be intimidating at first, but it really is a fascinating place with so much to learn." Cassidy shook her head. "No, I've only been here two full years and this will be my third. From what I understand of the way it works, here, I have this year and one more year of their school to complete. I'm not from this world, so I am still getting used to how things work here."

"A pleasure to meet you as well, Cassidy. It all seems so complicated," she said agreeably. It really did! "I worry it will take forever to make sense in even the simplest of things. To hear that you have learned so much is comforting."

"It won't take you that long," she said reassuringly. "And, I'll be happy to help you with anything you need assistance with. The teachers will help, too. I've never taken a class from Mr. Lannister, before, but over the summer term I took a class taught by his relative and it was a fascinating class. There were so many questions I wanted to ask him."

"Thank you," Yeul replied with another smile "You're very kind. I will keep that in mind." She glanced at their teachers. "Is it common to have families teaching here?"

Cassidy thought about that for a moment. "I'm not sure. I don't think that I have ever taken classes that had different family members teaching until now."

Chaz was trying to figure out how exactly he had ended up in this class, school, and life. He was failing on all three counts.

Evan... wasn't entirely certain he was in the right class as the lecture went on. But then, his Uncle had always told him that he'd need to strive to be a good leader, that the fate of the world itself might very well hinge on it, so... he wasn't sure.

He was going to sit quietly and take notes, all the same.

Daenerys would have never selected this class if she'd known what other teachers were here. Yes, she certainly...verged on trusting Lord Tyrion -- almost -- but who knew what secrets he might slip to his brother? She would have to guard herself here, and be more an observer in this class than a participant.
