Today's small, dimly-lit entry cavern, branching off into a small maze of tunnels from which the occasional growl or scratching noise or sound that might have been a shriek, was brought to you by the Danger Shop programming. When the students arrived they'd find Kennedy leaning carelessly against the wall with her arms crossed, one booted foot atop the prone figure of a bipedal reptilian creature. In case you were wondering whether sewer alligators really existed.

"So here's the deal," she said when class started. "I could talk at you all I wanted about what to do in theory, but lectures are overrated and it's what you end up doing when something big comes down for real that's gonna count. So this is the sitch: you find your way out of here, or keep everyone in one piece until the end of class, but the key is you stick together. No letting your classmates get lost or fall into a hole or get dragged off by the lizard-man things wandering around in here. Doesn't matter if you can't stand each other. Watch each other's backs, get everyone out. How you do that's gonna be up to you."

Kennedy half smiled, well aware that she was taking a cue from Buffy with the next thing she had to say. "You've got instincts. Trust them. That's maybe more important than anything I could try to drill into you." She snapped her fingers and pointed toward the mouth of the tunnel. "Go do that thing now."

Now would also be a good time to take a bathroom break if you need to.

To say that Evan was bouncing on his toes a little here would probably be understatement. Whatever it was that they were going to face down in those caverns, this was the sort of thing he'd been trained to do for years, now!

So he'd only been able to put that training to practical use a scant handful of times, and this was essentially just one more Danger Shop exercise. But still. EXCITING.

Cooperatively.

It's a little hard to see in this first set of tunnels. Three branches culminate in dead ends, but the rightmost tunnel will lead you on. Even if there's a deceptive pile of rubble blocking the path about halfway up. Hmm, you'll all have to get over that.

A little hard to see wasn't really so bad. Just so long as there were footsteps to be heard in the dim lighting, Evan was confident that they were all on the right track. When they reached the pile of rubble, he considered it for a moment, and then stretched an arm up to grab on to something that seemed solid enough at the top.

"If anyone wants, they can use my arm as a rope to keep them steady on their way up," he offered. "I'll just step over it when everyone's done."

Okay, you're on the right track now. The lighting is brighter in this stretch of the tunnel, except that it flickers out every now and then. To compound the problem, the floor is extremely uneven here, with rock outcroppings jutting up in places and potholes in others. Some of those potholes have gross sewer water in them, too. Ew. Except as far as you know, they could be bottomless pits, so no falling in...

Less of a maze than just a long, winding tunnel. At least this section is steadily lit, and a little more open, but, well. These moddable alligator-things might pop out at you from hidden alcoves every now and then. Please don't let them drag off your classmates before you make it through this part?

Well, you've found the exit. There is one catch: it's a small hole, not quite big enough for two people to pass through at once, and it's about eight feet up the side of the wall. Now, how to get everyone out...?

Evan stared up at the hole with wide-eyes, and then glanced around at his classmates.

"We could stand on one another's shoulders, maybe? Or I could do the rope thing again..."

His poor arms.

Bobby wasn't generally a fan of subterranean sewer battles, and it... probably showed. He was still willing to help out anyone who looked like they needed it, though.

Who's totally not looking bummed about this being the last class, except she totally is.

Pretty much exactly last session's final, yeah. I blame Hope Solo's autobiography for distracting me.
