That's Not What Happened: An Asgardian’s Guide to Norse Mythology [Thursday, Period Three]

"HELLO, CHILDREN!" Thor boomed. "I hope today finds you well!

Today, we are going to discuss Bragi, whom your myths describe as the god of poetry! If we are being entirely honest, however, I would have associate Bragi most closely with... well, I believe the term would be 'bullshit'." Which was entirely different from mischief and lies, of course. But it was possible that there was some connection there to the reason the two of them never seemed to get along that well. "He has quite the way with words, and is often able to make even the most stubborn of souls to do as he wishes.

"Mythology also describes him as a son of Odin, which... I believe I would remember having more than just the one brother!" Which was yet another difference between himself and the Thor that Loki knew, actually.

"So the question I put to you is this: being able to talk others into doing your bidding seems like a fairly benign ability, does it not? One could argue that it is merely a matter of being very convincing! But is it still so benign if what you are telling someone to do goes against their personal beliefs?" He frowned, then, as if realizing the subject matter might hit a sore note given the events of a couple weeks ago. "If you do not feel comfortable answering, it is not required, but if you wish to share your thoughts on the matter, I would like to hear them."

Cassidy was taking notes on the lecture and not imagining Thor shirtless as that would be disloyal to a certain BFF of hers.

Stacey never stopped picturing Thor shirtless. Why do you think she came to class?

If you had the power to convince someone to do whatever you wanted, and you wanted them to do something they'd never normally do...

"I guess it depends on what you're asking them to do," Stacey said thoughtfully. "Like if you just need help and they're refusing, or you need to get let out of a ticket or something I think it's okay."

Or if you wanted your teacher to say yes if you asked him out, ahem.

"But more than that's probably pushing it?"

"Where does one stop?" Loki asked. Because really, he had to.

Stacey thought about it.

"If it's going to make things weird if they find out about it, then you probably shouldn't do it," she said.

So... probably not asking the teacher out. Eh, she supposed she could have a pass on certain things.

GOOD. BECAUSE LOKI WOULD END HER IF SHE TRIED. END. HER.

"That... might not stop many people."

She was just going to have to make him fall in love with her through some combination of stalking, inappropriate dress, and maybe a little bit of being herself, then!

"Probably not. But it might be a good guideline," she offered.

He might still need to end her. Because of reasons.

"I suppose..." Look, he was a trickster. It was in his nature to question this stuff.

Darcy considered this carefully. "That always ends poorly in movies." She finally pronounced.

Who may or may not have opinions on Bragi.

Loki had many opinions. None of them were polite.

But that was to be expected, really.

Darcy had no opinions on Bragi. Darcy did have popcorn, however.

Well, at least Bragi's better than a certain god of did-I-leave-the-door-open?

(we're looking at you, Hod.)

"You truly have no other brothers?" Loki asked once the rest of the class was gone.

"Truly," Thor nodded. "Although I do remember Mother saying frequently in our youth that we caused enough trouble to easily be worth twice as many sons."

Thor. That wasn't exactly a good thing.

But it got Loki to smile nonetheless. "We have many brothers where I am from. From dearest Balder to the... less dear Tyr."

"...I am not going to be the one to tell Tyr there is a world where he is related to me," Thor decided.

"At least it is only through the All-father." THAT TOTALLY MADE IT OKAY. "And he is in Hela's realm now."

Wooing her. Ugh.

"I am almost afraid to ask," Thor admitted.

"I do not wish to know what they do," Loki replied earnestly, making a face. "I truly do not."

"Then let us speak no more of it," Thor decided firmly, slinging one arm around his brother's shoulders. It was a bit... awkward... at this angle, given that Loki was a good deal shorter than Thor had been accustomed to. Not to mention that the Loki of his own world was not precisely on companionable-arm-slinging terms with him.

BECAUSE HE WAS A KITTEN SHORT OF A FULL SACK OF CATS.

"How strange that so many differences between our worlds exist, and yet this stay the same."

"Really? I do not think it so strange that I'm taller than you, brother. Rather, I'd find it strange were it the opposite..."

Oh, just you wait until weetinies or something, Thor. JUST YOU WAIT. Then there may well be some eating of words.

That got Thor a punch on the arm. Because really now, Thor. Really. That wasn't even clever.

"Have you been long on Midgard?"

Which got him a terribly wounded-puppy look in return. Not that that had actually hurt, because please.

"A couple of months, before arriving on the island," Thor shared. "And a previous visit, though that did not last very long at all." Something in his expression shifted as he answered Loki's question, though he did his best to keep his tone light, there was a certain sadness in his eyes as he looked down at his younger brother.

Loki watched him out of the corner of his eye, pretending to be quite focused on the rest of the classroom. "Have you tried pizza yet? Or a milkshake?" he asked, shifting the topic to something that would not sadden his brother so.

Thor grinned, grateful for the change of topic. "I have not! But I've yet to find Midgardian food that did not agree with me, so perhaps you could show me where I might try these pizza and milkshakes?"

"Of course!" Oh god, this could only end in the pizza place running out of food.

"My, aren't you a clever little god?"
"Are you calling me little? Now there's one thing you really don't know about me."

Iiiii will be AFK most of the afternoon/evening for Bourne shenanigans at work.
