Tuesday Morning Announcements!
Just like yesterday, Umbridge's voice rang out over the speakers this morning bright and early. Unlike yesterday, there wouldn't be just talking during these announcements. Oh, Umbridge's first (and only) Once More With Feeling day. She would learn to hate it.
"Good morning, children!" she started, sounding chipper. "Welcome to another wonderful day here on our fair island. Now, I know some of you out there have been naughty and I want to say I am very disappointed in you. I give you so much, allow you so many freedoms and this is how you show gratitude? Remember this, children, when I find you, I will make you pay for your insolence."
There was a brief silence.
"You will become a lesson to everyone who still wants to disobey. You all do remember Anakin Skywalker, correct? Do you remember what happened to him? I thought so. I am in charge here and you all need to remember that."
And that's when Umbridge started singing. Oh dear.
"I admit that in the past I've been a nasty
They weren't kidding when they called me, well, a witch
But you'll find that nowadays
I've mended all my ways
Repented, seen the light, and made a switch.
And I fortunately know a little magic
It's a talent that I always have possessed
And dear lady, please don't laugh
I use it on behalf
Of the miserable, the lonely, and depressed (pathetic)
Poor unfortunate souls
In pain, in need
This one longing to be thinner
That one wants to get the girl
And do I help them?
Yes, indeed
Those poor unfortunate souls
So sad, so true
Now it's happened once or twice
Someone couldn't pay the price
And I'm afraid I had to rake 'em 'cross the coals
Yes I've had the odd complaint
But on the whole I've been a saint
To those poor unfortunate souls."
The singing stopped suddenly and Umbridge cleared her throat before shrieking, "Back to work!"
The announcements were over.
