So You're Crushing the Pitiful Resistance Movement, Monday, Period 4
Bruce was at the front of the room, dressed in his finest black suit with a pink pocket square to show his allegiance to Umbridge's rule. As usual.
"Welcome back, class. I hope you had a good weekend," Bruce said. "After discussing warning signs that somebody is a rebel and what kind of unauthorized magic to look out for the past couple weeks, I thought we'd discuss what to do when you found one of those terrorists."
"Some of the more distinguished members of our faculty might not agree with me completely, but this is the best, safest, and most rewarding way to handle a typical encounter as far as I'm concerned."
"First, don't engage if you can avoid it. I won't pay those terrorists many compliments, but I do have to acknowledge that they can be tough to track. And that means if you've lucked out and found one, there's a very good chance there's another nearby that you haven't spotted. Take note of who it was, where you found them, and when. People are creatures of habit. If you see them there once, you' might see them twice. If you've seen them twice, you'll probably get a third time. You've found a pattern."
"Each time you spot one of the rebels, be sure to report it to an authority figure. I'd like to think that I count as one at this point, but you can never go wrong reporting it to the school administration. They - all of us, really - are here to work with you toward a greater island," Bruce said, touching his chest to emphasize how important that point was. "And remember, anything you've heard about tattling in your youth should be ignored. There is nothing wrong with sharing crucial information."
"When it comes time to confront a rebel, whether it's after they caught you watching them or when you're launching an ambush, you'd prefer to bring them in alive. After all, this island is only so big. The rebels aren't many, but we don't want to waste more room burying them than we need to. It's much better to show them that life is better on our side. We have a utopia here, we should share it," Bruce said. "But if there's someone you can't bring in without killing, you probably have to ask yourself first whether or not you're ready to take them on. Because if there's any doubt, if you hesitate for a second... I'm not sure I want to tell you what they'll do to you."
"But you're here, learning, and working toward the betterment of Umbridge Island. That means that you have strength - both physical and mental - in abundance. So I trust you to do things the right way," Bruce said, showing a confident smile.
"Discussion time. If you're out searching for these rebel terrorists, how do you prepare yourself for the possibility of having one find you and attack you? What's your first move if one does attack? Do you try to beat them to the punch, or do you try to retreat? And this can go for either examples you've experienced, or things you've planned for the future."
