Practical Squiring, Thursday

This week, Jaime neglected to wear the full armor of his station, opting for something a little more comfortable and a little less stifling. Or, perhaps, he had a different reason for not wearing it. Who knew?

"Today we're discussing the care of chainmail." He smiled out at the class as he absently patted a large, wooden barrel next to him. "The best method for scrubbing rust off of mail is with sand. And, unless you're fond of turning your hands raw and bloody, the best method for that is to use this barrel."

Hopefully everyone was up for some good old fashioned back breaking labour!

"The chain mail is placed inside the barrel with sand and rolled back and forth until its clean," Jaime said with a smile. "It could take hours to accomplish, but it works. Now, who wants to try this first?"

He was such a kind teacher.

"This sounds like a very sensible plan," Cassidy said to Shira with a grin.

See, Shira! She could learn.

"Because really, the barrel is heavy and why have to exert yourself any more than you already have to?" Shira reasoned.

She totally saw using Craft as exerting oneself... which it was, but that was logic for a different time.

"Why do I think Ranon would have three kinds of a fit if he saw us with this right now?"

Not to mention what her older cousin would say. Probably more threats about locking her in a closet or something...

"Well, since we're using Craft and not doing it entirely ourselves, we'd probably just get funny looks and put-upon sighs," Shira said with a laugh.

Cassidy laughed.

"I did think about trying to do it with my own strength... but then I decided to be smart," she added quickly.

"I thought about it, too," Shira said, more to show Cassidy that it was a reasonable first thought than anything. "And then I decided that no, that was kind of dumb, I'd like to not be shrieking in pain tonight. I can deal with sore and achy, though."
