Decision Making Skills, Friday, Period Four

"Good afternoon," Steve said to his assembled students. "I'm Steve Rogers, and that's Mr. Rogers to you, and I'll be your teacher for this term. I'd like to think you've made a good decision already by deciding to take this workshop--unless of course you didn't sign up for it yourself, in which case someone else may have made a good decision on your behalf.

"It's been my experience that introductions are traditional for the first week of classes, so we're going to do that, and then we'll discuss a scenario where some bad decision-making was involved. So, I'd like everyone to state their name, where they're from, and why you decided to take this class." Again with the decisions. They were kind of going to be a theme.

Arietty had found herself once more standing on a desk. She'd gotten pretty good at scaling those, over the course of the week.

"I'm Arietty Clock," she called, waving a hand in the air in case anyone wasn't sure where to look. "I'm from Hackney. I had no idea I was even coming to school, so I didn't pick the class, but it sounds very useful."

"Hi, I'm Victor," Victor said, easier in this class than in the robotics one. "I'm from Los Angeles. I'm here because" -- because it was Steve Rogers, and even if Victor wasn't quite sure about the Steve in his world he was still enough of a fanboy to take at least one class from this version, but that sounded way too geeky to say out loud, so -- "because, uh, making good decisions is a very important life skill."

Evan fidgeted only a little bit before it was his turn to introduce himself. Introductions here weren't so bad, so far, and all he had to do was get through one more and then he'd be in the clear for the rest of the summer. At least so far as classes went.

"I'm Evan Sabahnur," he said, standing up and offering the group a tentative smile. "I'm from Kansas, I grew up on a farm there, and I'm in this class because..." Because it was a class on decisions, being taught by Steve Rogers. Though he'd been a little confused when he'd signed up, before he'd learned about alternate timelines running rampant here, considering the mess going on back home. "... It can't hurt, knowing how to make the right choices when it really matters."

Especially not if you were a kid aspiring to be a hero.

"Hi, I'm Darcy Lewis. I'm from almost normal now and here except Arizona. So not really because come on, Arizona?" Darcy cleared her throat. "Oh, and I took this class because I don't always make the best life descisions and end up drlivimg through a twister and the rest of this story is so not my fault!"

Maybe the week had warmed Fawn up a little bit, or perhaps it was just a decent attempt at socialization last night, but Fawn didn't seem to hide behind her hair nearly so much today. Maybe it was just that the question didn't seem to ask her to reveal too much, too. She gave a weak, shy smile, hunched her shoulders a little, and pushed the curtain of hair behind her ears. "I'm Fawn Singleton Farrell," she said, her voice still quiet, "and I'm from New York. And, at the threat of sounding like a broken record, I thought this class sounded like a good idea, so that's why I took it."

"Shane Gooseman, " Goose said, "I'm from the year 2106 and my guardian signed me up for this class, so I'm guessing he thought it would be beneficial for me to take."

"I'm Billy Kaplan, and I signed up for this class because sometimes, I find myself in situations where I have to make decisions very quickly, and I want to make sure I'm making the right choices."

Also, he was probably going to end up taking every class Steve taught. Sorry Steve!

Like Arietty, Bucky was also standing on his desk. "I'm Bucky Katt, and I'm better than you. I'm from Boston, which is much better than here. And I'm taking this class to learn how to make other peoples' decisions for them."

"Richie Ryan," Richie said. "I'm here because I was strongly advised to take this class to improve my, uh, poor decision making skills."

In other words, Mac made him sign up. Somehow.
