Summer Games of Harmony, Wednesday, period 1

The class met on the beach, where Pinkie waited, wearing a large, festive sun hat.

"Hello, everypony!" she called. "Welcome to Summer Games of Harmony, the class where we'll see which of you is the very best at a whole bunch of fun games and competitions! On Earth, they're soon going to have something called an Olympics, where all kinds of folks from all different countries come together and play lots and lots of games, and that sounded like a great idea for a class to me, so here we are!

"But first, we need to know what countries you want to represent! They can be any kind of country you want, the one you actually come from, or a new one you make up entirely! So everyone go around and tell us your name, and pick a country that you're going to represent for class, and then we'll get started!"

Once introductions were done, she went on.

"Today, we're going to play our first game. Since it's kinda hot out, I thought it'd be a great idea to play in the water. So everypony get on this starting line," she drew a line in the sand using her hoof, "facing the water, then when I yell 'go', you'll all run to the water and jump in. Whoever jumps the farthest will win!"

Pinkie stomped her front hooves in an approximation of a drumroll, then yelled "GOOOOOOOOOOO!" at the tops of her lungs.

Patriotically!

"I'm your teacher, Pinkie Pie, and I'm here to represent . . . Equestria!"

And no, the pony didn't warn you ahead of time that you'd get wet. She did ask you to meet her on the beach, though. . . .

I will be AFK until late this evening thanks to the holiday in the US, so any Pinkie interactions will be slow play, but I promise to get there eventually.

And now I have fifteen minutes to get dressed and madly finish cleaning my apartment before running out the door. Oh geez.

Juliet Darling

"Hi," Juliet said, juggling a lemur in her arms. "I'm Juliet Darling, and this is normally my brother Jeremy -- he's not really in the class, he just wouldn't stay in my room. And I'm here to represent France, 'cause they have the best style."

Juliet had put Jeremy-the-lemur down to start the race, but he screeched and tore after her, managing to attach himself to her back at precisely the wrong moment. She tumbled into the surf more than she jumped, and came up sand-covered and sputtering.

Jeremy, at least, seemed to think it was funny.

Hanna Marin

Cassidy

"Hey," Hanna said, greeting the class. "I'm Hanna Marin and I'm here to represent Italy because it has one of the greatest fashion capitals of the world."

Cassidy came to talk to Pinkie after class.

"Ms. Pie? You said you needed a TA?"

"I'm Cassidy and I'm representing Kaeleer, because that's where I'm from."

Hanna was a bit competitive. It was also really hot outside and the water looked very inviting. It was a combination of the two things that allowed her to jump pretty far into the water. She even surprised herself.

Billy Kaplan

"I'm Billy Kaplan, and I'm here to represent...Transia," he said, after a moment. "It's kind of a small country, and it needs more respect."

Billy wasn't terribly good with physical activities, but the water was really inviting and hey, it seemed that being skinny and bendy had its uses after all.

"I did?" Pinkie exclaimed. Never mind that it hadn't exactly been long since she'd said it. "I did! Do you want to be a TA, Cassidy?"

"Oooo," Pinkie said. "We have a whole judging category for style! Good choice!"

"Yay Italy!" Pinkie said, who had no idea where that might be. "You'll be the fashionable-ist Italy competitor ever!"

"Way to show home town spirit!" Pinkie enthused.

"Well, then," Pinkie decided. "It's good that it has you here to represent it!"

Stacey McGill

"I'm Stacey McGill, and I'm going to represent the United States of America, because no one picked it yet."

What.

Stacey was going to blame the weather, and clearly not eating enough earlier for the fact that she didn't do so well.

In reality, she hadn't wanted to get her clothes wet and was just too hesitant in actually doing this.

Stannis Baratheon

There was a good, long pause of staring at Pinkie with a look of surprisingly restrained disapproval, complete with teeth grinding, as Stannis tried to figure out what in the Seven Hells was going on.

"I am Stannis Baratheon," he finally said, since that seemed to be the thing to do, "and I suppose it is my right to be representing Westeros."

Though for what, he wasn't entirely sure. Nor was he entirely sure he wanted to know.

"Home town hero!" Pinkie decided. "Sounds good to me!"

"That sounds like a great country," said Pinkie. "I'm sure you'll lead them to glory!"

Richie Ryan

I'm Richie," Richie said. "I'm representing, uh, Scotland." The last word was said with an appalling attempt at a Scottish accent. Because he could.

Richie stumbled a bit as he got to edge of the water and didn't manage to get very far at all. But at least he wasn't last.

Pinkie had absolutely no idea why his voice went all funny on the country name. Maybe he was emotional?

"Okay! Sounds like fun to me!"

Considering he was being encouraged by a talking pink horse that wouldn't even be good for riding into war (or so he thought), Stannis didn't want to be bolstered by those words, but his sense of duty was definitely being placated right there, and very, very effectively. He straightened, standing a little more proudly. "It would be my honor to do so."

"Yes, ma'am, I do."

"Yay!" Pinkie cheered, flinging her hooves into the air with a burst of confetti.

Don't ask where she was keeping that confetti. It was probably best not to know.

"Oh, this'll be the best summer class session ever!"

Cassidy laughed, reaching a hand out to catch the confetti.

"It's going to be so much fun."
