Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I
Well.
It was raining popsicles and suntan lotion today. Because Fandom liked to make the newbies cry sometimes. Yes, the island had a sense of humor about these things.
We've all learned to accept that and move on with our lives. Well, all of us except for Britta. But she's the worst.
[Please wait for OCD is up! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here and here, in an effort to keep browsers from breaking for as long as possible.]

Re: Meet Your Teachers (Summer 2012)
"I'm in a strange land as it is. Perhaps things truly have changed when it comes to them."
She looked, he thought, more like a sellsword. Though one that would not make it long without being set upon by her fellows when their blood was up. It made his jaw clench for a moment at the memory of Pia.
Re: Meet Your Teachers (Summer 2012)
People attempting to set upon Cara when their blood was up tended to result in them getting very, very dead, very, very quickly. The cold, calculated betrayals had been somewhat more effective, but in the long run...well, she was standing there talking to him.
Re: Meet Your Teachers (Summer 2012)
"Like the 'phones' that young Andrew mentioned?"
Re: Meet Your Teachers (Summer 2012)
"Yes, whatever use those are." Look, unlike some people she wasn't a technology geek. Plus you needed people to call, and who where capable of picking up. She didn't exactly have a lot of those.
Re: Meet Your Teachers (Summer 2012)
"Ser Jaime Lannister of the Kingsguard," he said, bowing his head just enough to be respectful. He had enough pride to keep it from going further than that.
Re: Meet Your Teachers (Summer 2012)
She inclined her own head not even a fraction lower than Jaime had. "Mistress Cara of the Mord'Sith" It had been a long while since she'd actually used the title, but she had more than enough of her own pride as well.
Re: Meet Your Teachers (Summer 2012)
and crushing.Re: Meet Your Teachers (Summer 2012)
"The sisters of the agiel are dedicated to protecting and serving the Lord Rahl, ruler of D'Hara." Unless the Lord Rahl took it upon himself to betray the Mord'Sith and slaughter them en masse, leaving any survivors with a choice between two overwhelming and opposing loyalties, but it was unlikely that would happen. Again. At least not while Richard was Lord Rahl.
Re: Meet Your Teachers (Summer 2012)
He'd be the expert on it, after all.
"You're a knight." He wasn't laughing, but it was a close thing.
Re: Meet Your Teachers (Summer 2012)
"No, I'm a Mord'Sith." Yeeeeah, the Midlands were kind of lacking in knights or a 'noble' chivalric tradition. "Why would I want to be a knight?" Yes she was implying that being a Mord'Sith was better than being a knight. Because it was.
Re: Meet Your Teachers (Summer 2012)
"I haven't a clue," he said cheerfully. "I'm certain I would have had an answer no more than a year ago."
Re: Meet Your Teachers (Summer 2012)
Cara raised an eyebrow, because she certainly wasn't going to admit to that sounding familiar. "And what would you have said then?"
Re: Meet Your Teachers (Summer 2012)
His right arm flexed as though he made a fist.
Re: Meet Your Teachers (Summer 2012)
Her eyes followed the line of Jamie's arm, but she didn't say anything, mostly because commenting on the gold being kind of flashy wouldn't really have added anything to the conversation.
Re: Meet Your Teachers (Summer 2012)
"Not all men can be a knight, though. Protecting the weak, serving the king--the number of those have dropped dramatically now, which makes it easier."
Re: Meet Your Teachers (Summer 2012)
Re: Meet Your Teachers (Summer 2012)
Re: Meet Your Teachers (Summer 2012)
"In my experience, most kings are far less likely to rescue kittens from trees," or else order their faithful Mord'Sith to do so, Richard. "And far more likely to break their necks to cure a bad mood." Insert victim of choice who wouldn't fight back if no kittens were available.
Re: Meet Your Teachers (Summer 2012)
"I am in perfect agreement with you," he replied cheerfully. "Which means they are in the most need of protection. Even from themselves."
Especially if one of those kittens was named Ser Pounce.
Re: Meet Your Teachers (Summer 2012)
And the last thing Cara needed was Richard deciding to adopt the kittens.
Maybe if he found a puppy instead.Re: Meet Your Teachers (Summer 2012)
"I did not say what manner the protection would come in," Jaime replied with a smile.
Re: Meet Your Teachers (Summer 2012)
CaraKahlan would find that, she'd only end up having to take care of them and Richard.Cara tilted her head thoughtfully, because again, this wasn't sounding at all like something she'd admit to. "Or wouldn't?" To refer to completely hypothetical examples.
