Business Law – First Period [2/9]

Lorelai looks a little pale and doesn't have as much energy as usual, but she smiles at the class after they're all seated.

"Okay, gang, sorry about my recent absences. I've been ill, but I should be okay now. Thanks, Piper, for handling everything while I was out.

Today we're going to talk about Civil Litigation and how it relates to businesses."

She gives the students a handout:
Civil litigation has at least three meanings. It may connote an entire legal system, or either of two different bodies of law within a legal system:
1. a legal system
2. the set of rules governing relations between persons (either humans or legal personalities such as corporations); here the contrast is public law, especially criminal law;
3. Secular law, as opposed to canon law.

Then gives a lecture

"No discussion today, but make sure you turn in your homework from last class."

HR Management – Sixth Period [2/9]

Lorelai is still a little pale and an astute observer might notice that she's drinking juice, but she smiles at the class after they're all seated.

"Okay, gang, sorry about my recent absences. I've been ill, but I should be okay now. Thanks, Piper, for handling everything while I was out.

On Tuesday your assignment was to come to class today with five questions you might run across on a job interview. I want you to pair off and do mock interviews. If there's someone left over, you can work with me."

[yes I expect you to do this. According to my roster there are 5 people in this class, but I haven't seen one of them around in the last couple weeks, so just pair off however you want.]

He nodded, "Yeah. Do you want to go first? I kinda got a little overenthusiastic with the questions around six in the morning."

Boone reaches into his bag, pulling out a folded sheet of looseleaf. "Where do you see yourself in ten years?"

Piper pondered that for a moment. "I see myself as a successful chef running my own restaurant."

She waits for the next question.

"What is your greatest ambition? Uh, that one seems kinda pointless now..."

Piper grins. "Well, I have other ambitions. Like protecting innocents, vanquishing evil. That sort of thing..."

She paused before continuing. "Want me to ask a question now?"

"Sure," he said, setting down his paper. "Ask me anything, I guess."

"What are your career goals?"

"Well, I guess the obvious answer would be success, but I wouldn't want it for myself. I'd want it for more important things, like family or friends or something."

Piper nods. "That makes a lot of sense."

She paused before asking another question. "What would you say is your proudest accomplishment?"

He looked slightly bothered by the question. "I don't think I have one. I mean, I've done things that I'm proud of, but I don't think anything could really count as an accomplishment."

He grinned, picking a question from seemingly nowhere. "Itchy or Scratchy?"

"Boxers, briefs or neither?" He asked, encouraged by her laughter.

"Favorite color? Wait...let me guess. Red or pink, maybe?"

"What is your favorite class?" Piper asked, going back to the boring questions.
