Creature Languages, 02/09, Period 3

"You have now learned to speak, if haltingly, in Dragon, Rat and Spider. Those are all difficult tongues, with rich histories and their own quirks -- from the choppy vowels of Spider, to the crooning of Rat, to the rhyming of the dragons. I applaud your sincere efforts to learn.

Today, I would like for each of you to pick a so-called nursery rhyme and translate it into the Creature language of your choice. I trust that you will have no problems in finding appropriate substitutes for words that may not be on your vocabulary sheets."

Molly made a face. "Western Civ test. I don't think it went well." She shrugged a little.

"That's too bad, man. I've read a lot about the subject if you ever need some help studying for another test." Blair may have been flirting or he may have just been offering to tutor.

Molly smiled brightly at him. "I could use a tutor. Because cramming in one class and one study session the day before? So did not help." She rolled her eyes at herself.

Blair bounced and controlled his desire to take out a notebook and make first contact notes.

"Awesome! Just let me know when you need to study and I'll be glad to help." He searched in his pocket for a minute and yanked out a small wrapped package (http://www.theyarnco.com/images/knits/nature_cotton_hat.jpg). "Uh, I-I-I got this in town. It reminded me of you."

Molly blinked as she accepted the package. "You got a present for me? Th-that was really nice of you." She grinned at him then opened the package.

"A hat! Yay! I love it!" She took off the hat she'd worn to class and put on the new one. "Thank you, Blair." She smiled brightly at him again.

"You're welcome!" Blair grinned and bounced. "So...um let me know when you want to get together to do some studying, okay? I'm in room 409."

"No problem man. It'd be cool to hang out sometime!" Blair grinned and turned back towards his translation, trying to watch Molly covertly. He was pretty sure he had done good for his first try. He had initiated first contact, commenced with small talk and given a small gift. The plan was right on track.
