The Art of Disguise, Wednesday [5/9]
"Disguise is not some ridiculous wig that will render you all but invisible to your closest of friends," Holmes began, slouching low in his seat behind the desk. As someone spent far too much time investigating this 'internet' that young Mr. Murdoch had been so kind as to show him. "It is a tool to be augmented by both performance and basic, common sense."
He tapped his fingers on the arms of the chair in a jittery little beat. "What you plan to do with such information will be of great interest to me. As every tool may be missused by an imbecile."
Oh, Holmes. You're such a sweetheart.
"But first, we will discuss recognition. How it is that people truly see you, what defines you on a purely physical level." He popped up, out of the chair like a shot from a gun, writing on the board with chalk in sweeping cursive what he spoke. "If one were to describe you to a friend who had never met or seen a picture of you, what would they say? Are you tall or short? Slim or fat? What is the color of your skin? Your hair? Do you have any particular features that set you apart from the average person on the street? What is it that allows someone who knows you well to pluck you out of a large crowd who may share some of these characteristics?"
He tapped the chalk on his thumb, looking at the board rather than the students for now. "In order to disguise yourself, we must first know what it is that needs to be hidden. Not a terribly complex idea," Holmes said, finally spinning to see the class. "If you wish, you may find a partner to assist you in creating this list. Hopefully they will not attempt to soften any blows to your ego on the matter of your looks."

Re: Describe Yourself
"OMG this should be in the intro packet or something. The Internet lets you communicate with anyone you want, shop, read, all the information and anything you could ever wanna find. It's awesome." She paused. "You need a computer. ... They shrank."

"I mean," he said, blushing a little, "that's just... detached curiosity."
