Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

When the planning for the new semester had started, no one had really noticed that the welcome picnic would coincide with Cinco de Mayo. When the food arrived and all of it, including the desserts, had somehow ended up as a variety of Mexican food, well, it was a little too late to change anything.

Hopefully, the wandering mariachi band that had shown up wouldn't throw anyone either. It was a festive day of new arrivals, after all.

The blue and gold tables and chairs had been set out, along with nametags and the lists of Big and Little Siblings, and rooms and roommates for the new students. Assuming the shuttle arrived with all of the students and teachers in one piece, everything was set for the picnic to begin!

[OCD is up, have at it! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here and here, in an effort to keep browsers from breaking for as long as possible. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

Oh, well, Karolina was probably about to find out she wasn't the only one with 'special circumstances'. Thelma had wandered over herself, carrying her notebook with her nametag on it.

"You know, I don't actually need a room, but it's nice they assigned me one," she mused out loud, not even sure if she could be heard. And so, she also quick flipped open her notebook, wrote 'Karolina?' on the first page, and held it up, hoping that would get some attention.

Annnd now Karolina was being confronted with a floating notebook. A floating notebook with her name on it, even. And not just that, but a question.

"Uh," she said. Intelligently. "Yes?"

Was this... an invisible person?

Thelma quick flipped the page and wrote 'Thelma, UR new roommate'.

And quickly she added 'Ghost- Not a Notebook'.

"Not that I think you'd be silly enough to think I was a notebook," Thelma said, mainly to herself. "I just wanted that to be clear."

"... My roommate is a ghost?"

That was unexpected. To say the least. Excuse her for staring a bit. Also, because she was from where she was:

"Waaait, is this a prank? Are you someone with an invisibility power, just messing with me?"

Well this was going about as well as could be expected. Thelma sighed, quickly writing 'Not a prank. Your third eye is closed, so you can't see me. Also, not dirty.'

"I feel the need to stress that, actually," Thelma remarked.
solarhippie: ([neu] Not sure I understand.)

It could have been worse: Karolina could have just run away screaming! At least she was experienced in the ways of the abnormal.

She frowned at the notebook. "I didn't think it was dirty." Because she had kind of a pure mind. "So, I'm going to live with someone I can't see?"

That was going to be interesting.
