Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I
When the planning for the new semester had started, no one had really noticed that the welcome picnic would coincide with Cinco de Mayo. When the food arrived and all of it, including the desserts, had somehow ended up as a variety of Mexican food, well, it was a little too late to change anything.
Hopefully, the wandering mariachi band that had shown up wouldn't throw anyone either. It was a festive day of new arrivals, after all.
The blue and gold tables and chairs had been set out, along with nametags and the lists of Big and Little Siblings, and rooms and roommates for the new students. Assuming the shuttle arrived with all of the students and teachers in one piece, everything was set for the picnic to begin!
[OCD is up, have at it! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here and here, in an effort to keep browsers from breaking for as long as possible. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

Re: Meet Your Roommate [Summer 2012-1]
Room 403, with Peeta Mellark.
Oddly, that made her feel better. Peeta was such a strange name, but it was not too different from Petra, and a lot of the people she'd met so far had strange names. They probably thought Fawn was a pretty strange name, too. So she bit her lower lip a little, and looked up from the list with a concerned expression, wondering how she might be able to find this Peeta girl before finding the room itself, so she could be better prepared. She wondered if any of other girls would misinterpret her scanning their nametags, and she occasionally smoothed out her own.
Re: Meet Your Roommate [Summer 2012-1]
"Fawn?" Peeta confirmed. "I'm Peeta."
Re: Meet Your Roommate [Summer 2012-1]
"You're a boy," she stated, plainly, though her eyes were wide and the inside of her was a turmoil of panic and fear. Why was she roomed with a boy? Did the school make a mistake? Did they think that she was a boy, too, because of her...
"And I'm not," she added, with particular firmness, just so that everyone was crystal clear on that point. She wasn't. It was a mistake. It had to be a mistake. She wanted to just shrink into herself or start crying or something, but she couldn't, she couldn't let any of that show and she just gripped the side of the table for strength.

"No," she said, a little hurriedly. "No, it's not a problem. I, um...."
Her brain reeled and she forced herself to look at him. "Do you have any sisters?" she asked, brows furrowed, voice a little hopefully. She remembered all of Cliff's girlfriends always commented on how he was so good with girls because he had so many sisters, so maybe, hopefully, Peeta was like Cliff, and it wouldn't be much different. He kind of looked like Cliff, a little, if you squinted and thought of him being taller and thinner, not so broad-shouldered...and Fawn realized she should really try to think of him as not so broad-shouldered...

She offered Peeta an apologetic smile, though she kept her eyes firmly down and shied away from him a little. "Me, neither," she offered. "And my family shared a small space, too, but it's mostly sisters."

"I think I could believe it," she offered, "but, yeah. Totally going to reserve my judgement."
The smile grew a little bit in one corner of her mouth because she was actually attempting a joke, and it made her feel a little better. "Especially about the snoring."

"Are they older brothers, or younger brothers?" she asked.

Because one freak was probably enough.
