Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

When the planning for the new semester had started, no one had really noticed that the welcome picnic would coincide with Cinco de Mayo. When the food arrived and all of it, including the desserts, had somehow ended up as a variety of Mexican food, well, it was a little too late to change anything.

Hopefully, the wandering mariachi band that had shown up wouldn't throw anyone either. It was a festive day of new arrivals, after all.

The blue and gold tables and chairs had been set out, along with nametags and the lists of Big and Little Siblings, and rooms and roommates for the new students. Assuming the shuttle arrived with all of the students and teachers in one piece, everything was set for the picnic to begin!

[OCD is up, have at it! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here and here, in an effort to keep browsers from breaking for as long as possible. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

Of course, as it happened, Americans were a pretty heavy cultural influence on this particular Dane.

... Though the same could be said of most Canadians, really. Not that Ulrik knew anything about that. Right now, all he knew was that he was looking for someone named-

"Well, I sincerely doubt there's more than one 'Sparkle' here, so I'm guessing you must be my roommate."

"Yeah, for some reason it isn't a very common name. Still trying to figure that one out," Sparkle replied with a little snort and a shake of his head. "Ulrik, right? You don't snore or anything, right?"

Sparkle had priorities, Ulrik.

"Not so far as I am aware," Ulrik assured him. Of course, if he did, it was highly unlikely that anyone would have told him so. "Yourself?"

"I smoke," Sparkle replied, shrugging his shoulders dismissively. "And swear, and leave my clothes sitting around on the floor and empty pizza boxes when I get my hands on enough money for pizza and if I catch you in my dresser drawers going through my stuff, I'll kick your ass."

So, uh... fair warning, so far as Sparkle saw it.

"But no, I don't snore. I wouldn't ever be able to live it down if I snored."

"Sounds reasonable enough," Ulrik decided. "Especially since I've never had the chance to try a pizza, myself, though I've heard of them. Do you know if they sell them here?"
myownface: (Throwin' Crap.)

"Probably," Sparkle reasoned. "I mean, most places at least have somewhere to order a pizza, you know? But if there's no delivery place here, they probably have frozen ones wherever people pick up groceries here."

Sparkle would be so confused if he ever managed to find a box that looked exactly like Delissio, but which said Digiorno on it instead. Even the frozen pizza was wrong here.

Ah well. Either way, it wasn't delivery.

"Well," Ulrik said, after taking a moment to absorb all that. "Then assuming I can get some of my money changed over," because while what he technically carried with him were 'American dollars', he had a feeling most up-time establishments might not accept them, "perhaps that is what we should have for dinner tonight, then. To 'break in' the new room, is the term, I believe?"
myownface: (Grin!)

"What, like a pizza party?"

Oh, Ulrik. You tempted Sparkle so.

"I am never going to say no to free food," he decided, grinning. "Gives us a chance to check out the neighbourhood, too. See if the place is half as boring as I think it's going to be."
